What grade level will you have? This is not exactly what you are looking for...sorry ...but, it might fit in with your theme. Every 2nd Friday, we have Pop Your Top as a fun way to help motivate the kids to meet their Book-it goal for the month. They can bring money to purchase healthy drinks (juice, milk, bottled water, gatorade) from the machines or bring their own from home. We pop popcorn, have our drinks, and read independently for 30 minutes. Should they forget their money, there is no sharing or borrowing. It is posted all week and they need to learn to plan ahead and be responsible. The kids love it and look forward to it. Not an orginal idea, but one that I borrowed from somewhere
Some of this may be too low since we don't know your grade level. http://www.everythingpreschool.com/themes/popcorn/ http://webtech.kennesaw.edu/jcheek3/popcorn.htm http://stepbystepcc.com/foods/popcorn.html http://www.geocities.com/mrsjacksonsclass/popcorn.htm http://www.centennial.k12.mn.us/gle/mediacenter/popcorn.htm http://www.preschooleducation.com/tpopcorn.shtml http://edhelper.com/DailyThemes_December_23_2.html http://www.perpetualpreschool.com/preschool_themes/popcorn/popcorn.htm Bob's Rocket Blast: http://www.jollytime.com/kidsclub/game.asp?gameid=1 Jolly Time Pop Cards: http://www.jollytime.com/kidsclub/game.asp?gameid=2 Kid's Club: http://www.jollytime.com/kidsclub/kidsclub.asp Popcorn Theme: http://www.angelfire.com/ma/1stGrade/pagepop.html Poppin Library: http://www.jollytime.com/library/popplans.asp Sweet Treats: http://www.jollytime.com/cozykitchen/cozykitchen.asp#sweettreats http://www.jollytime.com/kidsclub/kidsclub_jokes.asp Craft Corner: http://www.jollytime.com/kidsclub/kidsclub_crafts.asp Hauntingly Good Popcorn Recipe: http://www.justkidsrecipes.com/halloween/hall0033.shtml Letter P Popcorn Balls Lesson Plan Alphabet Activity: http://www.atozteacherstuff.com/lessons/LetterP_1.shtml Popcorn Recipe Index: http://www.melborponsti.com/popcorn/index.shtml Popcorn Science Experiment: http://www.teachers.net/lessons/posts/91.html Circus Popcorn Bags: http://www.dltk-cards.com/custom.htm If You Take A Mouse To The Movies: http://www.harperchildrens.com/hch/picture/series/mouse/color1.asp Peanut Butter Popcorn: http://www.ichef.com/ichef-recipes/Appetizers/46516.html Popcorn Coloring Sheet: http://www.preschoolcoloringbook.com/color/popcorn.shtml Popcorn Math Fun: http://www.imsa.edu/team/spi/impact2/1992/92page35.htm Popcorn Shape Book: http://abcteach.com/Shape books/General Shapes/popcorn.htm Caramel Popcorn: http://www.recipesource.com/desserts/candy/05/rec0564.html Flying Popcorn Balls: http://www.recipesource.com/munchies/snacks/01/rec0189.html Kid's Corner: http://www.ohiocorn.org/kids/default.htm Mother Goose Popcorn: http://www.recipesource.com/misc/kids/00/rec0021.html Popcorn Spelling: http://www.teachers.net/lessons/posts/516.html Popcorn Theme: http://www.kzoo.edu/sciencegrasp/popcorn/popcorn.html
Wow, Lori!! What an amazing lists...that is so wonderful of you! They sound fun...I am going to check them out for ideas, too!
I teach 7th LA, and two years ago I did a popcorn/movie themed BB. the title was "Now reading __________! (at the top) Coming Soon: ____________! (at the bottom). I printed out (since I couldn't find anywhere) red/white striped popcorn buckets for the corners. I added student work to the board. There were writing assignments and vocabulary drawings that were related to the novel. On individual popcorn pieces that I printed, I wrote the vocabulary word or prompt that corresponded with the student's work and stapled them to the board. I got lots of compliments on it. I saw the popcorn theme stuff from trend last week and thought it was cute. But as usual, I don't need it now!
Now I'm craving popcorn! I did a short unit on popcorn a few years ago. One of the fun things we did was a blind taste comparison of microwave and stovetop popcorn. We made a chart and interpreted our results. Yummy. I have a few popcorn books, but I am blanking out on titles. Thanks everyone for the sites!
