When will politicians realize that they are wasting millions of dollars on tv ads that are muted by millions of people the second they appear on tv?

I did not enjoy the 13 automated phone calls I got Monday night. I was getting pretty angry, but had to answer the phone to know if my dad safely got to Oklahoma City. I had already voted, so maybe it was a little extra annoying. Even if I hadn't of voted yet, my mind was already made up on who/what I was voting for.

Actually, I'm happy the ads are over but only because it means that the election is over and DH's boss got elected to a higher office and that may mean the first promotion/pay raise in 4 years and therefore an easier time paying for the boys' college. YAY!! Also, the party was pretty awesome.:celebrate:
As you can tell, the election was a pretty big deal here.

Elections are important...but the ads, ads, ads, and calls, calls, calls!

Wouldn't it be nice if one said...'You will not have an ad or call from me. Instead, two weeks before the election, I will have a 30 min broadcast stating my views. You can decide for yourself from there.'

I bet their would be respect earned and thus votes!

Good point.... Million and millions spent on negative campaigning. And many of the ads were down right lies...

Wouldn't be nice if a politician said instead of wasting this money I'm going to donate it to a school, a homeless shelter or some other worthy cause!!! Now that's a politician I would consider voting for!!!

I have to say we had a position that one said was ugly & they other rose above it!!!

I'm just glad I no longer have to see Missy Smith's ad featuring pictures of aborted fetuses. Made me want to vomit...
