Hi! I've been out of teaching for 6 years (have about 1.5 yrs of teaching experience plus subbing) so I'm a new anyway. I live in Wisconsin-can anyone offer general suggestions/advice on "updating" for interviews, stategies, buzzwords, etc. I'm interested in teaching elementary-hopefully 2nd-4th.

The biggies I heard were: inclusion, collaboration, co-teaching, and objectives (personal, for students, and professional). Not much help, I know.

At interviews I hear things like - what would your classroom look like? 5 words to describe yourself. Also, technology - how much you know, training, abilities, use in the classroom.

Differentiated Learning, Reader's and Writers Workshop, Strategic Learning Initiative, Professional Development, etc

I live on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois. Although I am certified in Illinois, I have checked into applying in Wisconsin. I would look at the districts you are interested in and then research their websites for clues of what is going on in those grades. For example, visit a districts website and look at a second grade teachers website--her schedule, curriculum, newsletters. Also, the school's improvement plans or report cards. Vistit the Wisconsin Education website and look for the newest trends. Hope this helps!

The job market in many parts of Wisconsin is TOUGH. It is not impossible though.

You're smart to be updating things and looking into this!

    Good luck!
