a mom & pop dollar store went out of business so i bought a bunch of plastic shower curtain hooks with the idea of using them for a pattern center for kindergarten, but i got hired for 2nd grade...any ideas of how to use them...the only thing i have thought of is to suspend from the ceiling in links to display stuff like art work and exemplary papers...

    Shower Curtain Hooks

    Amy,

I made my own pocket chart stand using a rolling clothes rack and shower curtain hooks. I bought the rolling clothes rack for about 10 - 12 dollars at Wallmart, and then I put the shower curtain hooks on the top and then put them in the holes of the pocket chart (they were a little tough to get in, but after trying, it worked.) It would depend how thick they are! Anyway, I had moved schools and didn't have my own pocket chart stand, so this was a relatively inexpensive way to make my own. I was so proud of this great "new" idea that I wanted to write to the Mailbox magazine...then I showed a few teachers and they said that they had seen it before. Oh well! Rolling pocket chart racks sell for more than $50 from what I've seen, so this was a great way to save money! :)

In my scrapbook room, I use shower curtain hooks around a clothes hanging pole to keep small packages that are displayed in the stores by hanging them from a hole at the top of the package. I just use the same hole and find it works great to keep a bunch of packages organized and visible. When I want something, I just look through the bags sort of like you look for an outfit to wear. Perhaps there is something you can hang from the hooks in the same way, maybe baggies with the book/tape for listening centers.

Along those same lines, I used hangers and clothespins to hang my posters in a closet at school. I was constantly having to repin them b/c they were so heavy and would slide out from under the clothespins. BUT..i bet if you put a small hole punch in the top of each poster, you could hang them from shower curtain hooks much the same way AND they would be more stable! :wow:

I was thinking if you hotglued them together on top of each other with a piece of cardboard in the bottom you could use them for your sharp/dull pencil containers.

can you use them for hooking together flash cards? I wonder if you can save them for a craft project, like threading lace on them , then gluing an itsy bitsy figure on it to make a broach for mothers day. (It would be like a little lacy circle with something like a rose or small teady bear sitting in the center with pin hot glued to the back)

You could hand ziploc bags with listening center stuff (book and tape) using a chart stand. These other ideas are really great! They might just be on of those things that you have until you realize that they would be great for whatever it is you are doing! I keep stuff and often have moments where I think - I am so glad I have these!
