Just for fun, what's your list of places you'd never eat at again & why? Here's my list because the food wasn't that great. There's way too many other places to go to rather than wasting my $ here: - Panda Express - Barely qualifies as Chinese food, but I'll go here once in a while - Pick-Up Stix (casual Chinese eatery) - Yrs ago, I thought they were horrible, but when I finally ate here again, they were OK/so-so - Tasty Goody - A Chinese place that gives you a lot of food & tastes alright, but I'd prefer to go elsewhere - Yoshinoya Bowl - Tastes pretty bad. When I want Japanese food, I'll go to an authentic place - Pat & Oscar's (casual restaurant) - Fuddruckers (casual restuarant) - Chronic Tacos (Mexican eatery) - Old Spaghetti Factory - My BF thinks it tastes like old feet. - On the Border - They're OK, but I'd go to another Mexican place if I want Mexican food - Burger King - Last choice of fast food places I'd go to, but I like how their burgers taste - Farmer Boys - It's so-so, I go here every once in a while - Cowboy Burgers - It's so-so, I go here once in a blue moon (can't think of any place else right now)
My wife and I probably spend $150 to $200 every week dining out and the only place on my list to never go again is Chili's. Their beer mugs aren't very cold and the menu is boring.
There's very few places I WOULD eat again. I go out to eat very rarely and when I do I like to try a different place every time. It would have to be a REALLY good place for me to go more than once.
I would be fine with never going to Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Fridays, Bob Evans (except breakfast) or most chain restaurants again. Applebees I find particularly disgusting. However, my mom and the rest of the family like these kinds of places, so I pretty much have one thing on each menu that I think is tolerable, and that is what I order. Crispy Orange Chicken from Applebees, the steak and blue cheese pasta from Olive Garden, coconut shrimp from Red Lobster, the Bruschetta chicken pasta from Fridays... Sadly, there is an Australian restaurant in my old town that I LOVED for a long time. BF and I went there on our first date. I went there after my graduation with my family. But then we went one day and everything was horrible, and the service was terrible, and for some reason even though I had so many great dining experiences there, I totally lost my appetite for that restaurant. I never was able to give them a redeeming chance. Maybe someday - they have this chicken and brie wrapped in pastry with mango sauce that is to DIE FOR.
Uh oh, I'm going to Chili's tomorrow. I don't mind it, though. There is a local barbecue restaurant, Sonny's, that we used to enjoy. Then we saw one of those investigative reports on the news channel about how they'd been cited for roaches. The roaches lived in the grill. Oh, gross.
Applebees. Yuck. McDonalds. And I don't like Panda Express, really, but I love that they have a drive-through. I used to sacrifice food quality for not having to get a then-2-year-old in and out of the car.
I almost never ate at Panera after getting violently sick, but I think I convinced myself it was a stomach bug, not food poisoning, and have since eaten there with no problem. That's the only one I can think of though.
I had breakfast at McDonalds once while pregnant, got violently sick in the parking lot, and have a real hard time going back there for breakfast. Lunch is fine, but I'm hesitant about their bacon. That's it. As long as I'm not cooking it, I'm very happy to eat out anywhere!!!
The menu at Applebees has gotten horrible. Chili's and Ruby Tuesday is the worst places I've eaten. I'll down just about any fast food and not think twice. Also, I was able to try out a Shoney's last summer. My heart may never forgive me, but I loved it!!!
Ahhhh, I forgot about Shoney's!! I haven't been to one in about 15 years. We used to stop there while on road trips when we were kids LOL
I don't really like fast food. I am like a PP, there are a few things I will eat at each one. Applebee's service and quality are contantly changing, so we don't go there very often. I agree, the local places put more care into their food and service. Although we find Shari's to vary from place to place, our local one is pretty good, and we go there often.
There's this local place in our small town that I won't go to again. And that's saying a lot because we don't have many choices! We went there once and sat forever before they took our orders and then had to wait a really long time for food. I was really unhappy with mine-I wasn't able to eat it the way it was. We mentioned something to the waitress who didn't do anything. Then she came and took the plate away (even though I would have eaten the sides) and didn't offer to get me anything else. When we went up to pay we said that we didn't want to pay for my meal, since I only had a few bites. Well, they asked to see my husband's license (we should have known better) and then said they were going to call the cops. Over a $5-$6 meal. We should have called their bluff, but we just paid it because we were in a hurry to get somewhere.
I don't think that there's any place that I have had a bad enough experience at to never eat their again. But that being said I'm an extremely picky eater and won't eat at places that don't have at least a couple of plainer choices for me to choose from.
I used to love Red Lobster, but I can't eat there anymore. I got food poisoning years ago after eating there. I wasn't exactly sure I got the food poisoning there, but it was the last place I'd eaten. I lost 9 pounds in the first three days, and I was sick over a week. I had to go to the doctor twice, and I was almost ready to be hospitalized before I started getting better. I just can't eat there.
Ruby Tuesdays and Red Lobster rank up top with me. There are a few others that are too expensive and their food isn't worth it, but those 2 are tops for me. Chili's is one of my favs.
Subway. When I was in high school, I ate there after going to the doctor for something. I started taking medication that I was unknowingly allergic to, and became violently ill (totally unrelated to the Subway, but as someone else said, it was the last thing I had eaten). I was hospitalized and don't remember 5 days, aspirating vomit (sorry, gross I know), etc. I can occasionally eat a hot sandwich from there if I'm desperate, but absolutely NOTHING with lettuce, pickles, or mayo, and NOTHING cold. I can eat other subs, and those foods in other places, but NOT Subway.
I can't believe I forgot to say The Melting Pot. Took my BF one New Year's Day for his birthday. I paid $100 for a few little chunks of flavorless meat & some wierd-tasting cheese fondue...never again & my BF agrees. Also, don't care much for the World Famous Islamorada Fish Co Restaurant. The food doesn't have much flavor. I love Red Lobster's biscuits! It seems that the only way I lose weight is if I'm sick...I hate that!
What's funny is that I love some of the places some of you have mentioned. Melting Pot and Panera are two of my favorite places to eat! As far as chains, my least favorites are TGIFridays and Ruby Tuesdays. Both of those places I don't like the flavor of the food, and Ruby Tuesdays has some of the driest burgers I've ever eaten. Locally, there's this Vietnamese place that we've been to three times and still not found food that we liked. It's just not very good. I usually love Vietnamese food. So we won't go back there again.
I've eaten at Lone Star twice here; both times the food and service was outstanding! We took our grade 8s there during our end-of-the-year trip last June and will do the same again this June. They accommodated our large (50+) group with ease, the food was served hot, the orders were all correct, and most of the kids left full!
My never again restaurants are those that get bad cleanliness reports. Thankfully there aren't many around here that get bad ratings.
We love melting pot, too. But we have gone with people who don't like it. I think it is hard for people to get past the raw meat. There is also a pizza place in my old town that I will not eat at because it was the last place that my mom ate before she had her heart attack. I am sure the pizza had nothing to do with it, but I just can't bring myself to eat there anymore. And it was my favorite, too!
White Castle burger Brompton Quarter (in London) everything about it was horrible: the cold greasy food, the expensive prices, the lousy service (we had to wait 30 minutes just to get the waiter to bing us out bill. I was ready to walk out.) Those are the only two places I can think of violently disliking.
I remembered another. Yrs ago, one Valentine's Day, my BF & I ate at Schatzi on Main, owned by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The food wasn't that great & too salty. Since 2007, the restaurant's no longer there.
Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me about White Castle. And we don't have any locally, but I grew up with Hardees. I even found it disgusting as a child. Oh, and KFC. Love the biscuits and coleslaw, but hate the chicken. Once, though, my dh took a bite of chicken, went to the bathroom and threw up, then came back to the table and kept eating.
I LOVE Panera, KFC, and grew up with a high tolerance for White Castle. (THough it pretty much HAS to be 3 am to eat White Castle.)
Several seem to dislike Red Lobster, which is probably my favorite place within a reasonable distance from home. I detest seafood, but their boneless, skinless grilled chicken breast--which is typically what I eat at whatever restaurant I patron--is the best I've head. Simple, but good. What do I not like? I don't like Chili's, but it's not for quality reasons...I just can't find anything I enjoy enough to make the visit worthwhile. There are probably few if any places are my absolute Never Again list.
Hardee's is my absolute favorite fast food. We had one where I was born and raised, but not in my last town. Now there is one right down the street from my new school and I am tempted to swing by there a LOT after school. lol
I will never step foot into Planet Hollywood in St. Louise. It was dirty, food was cold, and the waiter was rude. He brought my child a glass with lipstick on it. When I asked for another glass, he told me to wipe it off. I was so mad. I didn't leave him a tip and he chased me out of the restaurant demanding a tip. I will also never step foot into Saltgrass in Norman, Oklahoma. $55 for two and it was not cooked the way I ordered. The service was awful, and when the manager came by and asked how it was and I told him...he told me "well, you didn't have to eat here." So I won't again. I don't like On the Border. And I don't like McDonalds, but I will eat at both if there aren't other options or the group wants to go there.
Quiznos for me. Got food poisoning there. Pizza Hut - don't like their pizza. And Jack in the Box - someone once added a little three letter word after the "Jack" and I can't even stomach the idea of eating there.
TACO BELL----Used to be our sunday night stop as a family after church service and I got the taco salad every time and got sick too many sunday nights in a row. Have not been since. I forgot the name but its a buffet resturant, oh wait it just came to me lol Golden corral. We went as a family and my mom got sick off the food. She got real bad food poisioning. Any Chinese place---I just hate chinese. Krystals fast food-I just don't really like the food. Long John siliver fast food- pretty much same reason. Crystal River seafood (it may just be a local place idk)--- Heard bad things from someone who used to work there and my sister found a worm crawling on her plate. The manager came over(very nice the 2 diff ones the resturant has had and new us) and offered to make her a whole new plate but she was not hungry past that point and it was free meal too.
WOW!!! I worked as a host in a resturant once and I know personally that the servers work off tips since they only make $2 something an hr so Idk those ppl you spoke of are making a check with that service. I would have been beyond mad.
Oh yeah, we had a place called Bonanza at home and then there is a place called Hoss's here. Bonanza was a lot like Golden Corral. Hoss's is more just like a soup and salad bar with a few other things on it. I think both are absolutely disgusting. My BF likes Hoss's because it is cheap, but I think the food there is just foul.
I can't stand McDonalds. I really like Red Lobster though. Olive Garden is nothing to crow about, but it's alright. I don't care for Chili's because it can be so spicy, but I wouldn't say I'd never eat there again.
