    Ok...

Take a Pit-Stop from the job search for a moment.
Let's take a fun introductory question roll call!

    (1) When you were growing up... what did you dream of doing when you grew up? (It can be a few jobs if you were a mutliple dreamer.)

    (2) How close did you get to BECOMING that?

    AND

    (3) If you accomplished the dream... was it all you dreamed of?
or If you HAVEN'T... Is it still your wish?

    :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I wanted to be an artist, a teacher, and/or a killer whale trainer.

I don't have the talent to be an artist, so that never would have worked.

Obviously I am a teacher, so....

I dropped the idea of being a killer whale trainer at the point I realized it was more than swimming around with Shamu.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be:

An architect who designs supertall skycrapers
    An astronaut
    Mr. Spock
    A scientist
    An astronomer
    Obi-Wan Kenobi
    A physicist
(For what it's worth, I had never even heard of a mathematician until I was in high school)

In the end, I study math, physics, and astronomy for fun. I guess I can try to be Jedi Master of Mathematics while I'm at it, particularly since math seems to be just as mysterious as The Force to some people.

Oh, I was a multiple dreamer. I've always wanted to be a teacher, but in between, I also wanted to be a rock star/actress/model, an interior decorator, and a marine biologist.

The whole entertainer career went by the wayside once I realized I was too shy and quiet. I realized I would make a horrible interior decorator when I found out they had to work with geometry, and geometry and I have a love/hate relationship. Specifically, I love to hate it. Marine biology was dropped once my mother pointed out I would have to dissect animals... a lot.... Ew.

I'm still working on the teacher dream, but I feel fairly confident that it's what I was meant to be.

I wanted to be a professional baseball player when I was in elementary and middle school. It lasted until I realized I wasn't really that good when compared to those who were.I did hope to be a sportscaster or sports writer, but that never got off the ground.I was too shy to do that.
Since middle school I did have a desire to be a teacher and this I accomplished. Most days I am happy I did,but there are some days I still wish I could hit the curve ball.

    1. I dreamt of being...
    - A cashier a McDonalds
    - an astronaut
    - a nun
    - a famous writer
    - a teacher
    - a dancer
    - a singer
    - a mom

    2. Did it come true?
    - nope
    - definitely not - I'm too short and I suck at math and science
    - figured out what that entailed giving up and never looked back
    - I've been published, but I'm not famous. Give me more time
    - Been there, done that, going back :)
    - nope, blew out my knee
    - only when I need to torture someone
    - working on it

    3. Was it all I dreamed of?
    - Teaching the first time around was a slap in the face - I didn't realize so much pettiness and power-control existed in school systems. But I just love teaching, so to heck with admin. Seeing my name in print in a book was awesome, but it didn't really pay, so let's hope this next story pans out... and as for being a mom, I'm not one yet, but it sure is fun trying to become one ;)

    My dream was:

    1) cardiologist -wanted to fix broken hearts :)
    2) genetic counselor

Nope never got to the first one
Did something related to the second and loved it-but so business oriented

Teaching is pretty much everything I love all wrapped up into one-science, continuous learning, and well-teaching. Of course this is my first year. I guess I'll see if it's all I think it will be.

I always imagined myself becoming some sort of mentor figure. I hadn't specifically nailed "teacher" but now that I am a teacher, I love it.

I always just wanted to be a teacher. And I am one (although one on medical leave from work...lol). And it has its ups and downs, but I couldn't imagine doing anything else! (seriously- I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was 4!)

I wanted to be a ballerina or a model.

Didn't happen. No money or anyone pushing me in the directions I wanted to be in.

I turned out to be a mom and it is truly the best thing I ever could dream of. Being a teacher is just a natural thing for me. I love teaching children.

I wanted to be a firefighter like my daddy and grandpa. I most certainly didn't want to be a teacher. I was not a well-behaved child mostly because I struggled for years in school.

I took my CPAT, civil service and applied to the department. I changed my mind last minute because I just felt it wasn't right for me.

From my k -12 memory book loving kept by my mom

    from k -6 I wanted to be
    1. a secretary
    2. sewardress (guess how old I am - loved the outfit - miniskirt and go-go boots)
    3. model - again with the go-go boots
    4. teacher

    So
    1. worked as a secretary to a bunch of insurance agents in college - hard work - but fun to work with office supplies
    2. changed the outfit and title - no longer seemed fun :)
    3. way too short and not nearly skinny enough
    4. best job in the world - I love my job :)

    (1) When you were growing up... what did you dream of doing when you grew up? (It can be a few jobs if you were a mutliple dreamer.)

    1.musician, 2.actress, 3.veterinarian, 4.writer, 5.lawyer (briefly) 6. teacher

    (2) How close did you get to BECOMING that?
    1. I actually have been in bands and was in a wedding band for a while (before kids). I still play in a local community orchestra.
    2. I have acted in community theater
    3. stopped after I realized what it entailed
    4. am still writing, and hope to finish my book since I am only teaching 10 hours a week
    5. Wanted to become a lawyer so I could have $$$$ - then realized that it wasn't for me
    6. Have taught privately for a few years - now am a LTS band teacher and I *love* it - unfortunately, the position got cut with the budget so I am out of the job come June :(

    (3) If you accomplished the dream... was it all you dreamed of?
or If you HAVEN'T... Is it still your wish?

see above - still hoping to get my book deal :D or at least my dream teaching job!

I wanted to be a Spitfire pilot in the RAF.

Later, I wanted to be a Beatle.

    Neither worked out.

Sarge, you reminded of three of my biggest dreams - becoming either Mrs. David Cassidy, Mrs. Lindsay Buckingham or Mrs. Roger Daughtery

Sad to say, for some strange reason, neither of these came true for me either

I wanted to bag groceries or bust tables. I was enthralled by both those jobs. I went through a stage of wanting a cooking show, but I was realistic enough to know that wasn't going to happen.

I did neither (but I still bag my groceries any chance I get!). I never wanted to teach. My mom always told me I should teach, but it never appealed to me and I resisted. Until I taught my first class. I feel in love and haven't looked back.

I wanted to be a Home Ec. teacher. I was almost there, and college politics got in the way. So, I became a preschool teacher instead.

    I love reading all these!

I wavered between a child psychologist and a teacher. I can't remember really wanting to be anything else. I was 1/2 through my masters in psychology and discovered that most of my profs. had 2-3 jobs--that didn't appeal to me and graduate school was too expensive to have ins. companies only pay $30 an hour. I still want to work with kiddos and am working on getting into teaching.

I wanted to be a nurse. I started at college in prenursing and couldn't pass anatomy and have a fear of needles.
I sometimes wish I would have stuck it out. But my kids are living my dream. My son is becoming an EMT and my daughter goes to grad school next month to be a clinical nurse leader.

    Well, YES!

Now that I am one...it's scan scan scan... I LOVE it when I have to key in produce. THAT'S Checkin'! HEHEHEHE

Actually i always loved going to the grocery store (actually the same food chain I work for part-time now) with my mommy on Saturday morning... But ONLY when we went "twenty dollar shopping" - that meant a full cart full of groceries. (Yeah, Yeah...I'm old enough to be a mom to many of you.)

    My dreams were to be:
    a teacher
    a principal ballerina
    an U.N tour guide
    a foreign diplomat
    a Presidential foreign etiquette advisor

    Did it come true?
-Working on the first one...need a little fairy dust on the job hunt
-Danced through high-school, but my mom made sure that I ate and reinforced good body image instead of the waif-ness that was required
-Never got started, this basically stemmed from one of my favorite books when I was little but I've tragically forgotten the name
-Never got started on this one either
-Pipe-dream :) But I'd like to think I'd be better than whoever told Obama that Ipod's and dvd's are okay gifts for foreign dignitaries

    All I dreamed?
No, but my life is better than what I could have hoped.
