There are some interesting things on Pinterest. One thing that I really don't understand is when people take a dry-erase marker, cover it with a piece of paper that contains a student's name, and hot glue a pom pom to the end. http://pinterest.com/pin/105482816245681467/ I don't understand why someone would spend time doing this, because: 1) I don't see the purpose of each student needing his/her own labeled marker. My students just take a marker when they need one, and I've never had a problem...? 2) Pom poms aren't cheap! I just use black socks for erasers, which are very cheap and can be used over again each year. 3) Where does the students place the cap when it is removed? It is usually placed on the end, but now a pom pom is there. Now you have a whole new problem. It seems like a very putsy and unnecessary project. If anyone does this, and finds it useful, please fill me in on what I'm missing. Have you seen any teacher trends on Pinterest that leave you scratching your head?
