post some pics of your room from the first day through summer. oohh fun fun thread ok this is the beginning of the year umm during the year end of year summer packup
Like it I really liked the poster you had in the first picture of how a clean desk looks. I continue to tell my students what I expect a clean desk to look like but I never thought to have a visual aid for it. Thanks for the new idea! Are there any other ideas that you use in your class that you think are "must share" kind of ideas?
I would be ashamed to post pics of my room at the moment. It is a MESS! I manage to stay very organized until spring break, but then all heck breaks loose. Half of my posters have fallen off the wall, and I have stacks of stuff everywhere. I have to start packing up next week, and then I'll go through my piles and get rid of stuff!
My room never really got completely organized this year, as I had moved into a new house and a new classroom the same week! Stacks of things everywhere I swear, next year I will be much more organized!
animal class: I loved your poster on what a "clean desk" should look like. I'm very pro-organization with my class, so I think a poster would be a great visual. Of course, the challenge will be actually drawing the desk and things inside of it. I am not an artist by any means.
Put a desk together and then take photos of it to put on the poster. That way you don't have to draw it!
To make that poster (I have the "no talent drawing gene") I took a picture of a desk with everything where I want it. I took the camera card to walmart and enlarged the picture to a 11x16. It was $7 however, in the long run it will save me hours of frustration b/c I would never be able to draw a desk, let alone, what should be in it.
Oh my goodness! Am I understanding that you have to totally strip your classroom down? I would be ANGRY as that makes no sense to me...what a waste of time and effort. Is there a reason I need to know of? At the end our school year we're reminded to shut down our computers and turn off the lights.
I have to do the same thing in my classroom at the end of the year. Nothing is to be on the walls and everything should be pushed to the side so that it will make it easier to clean over the summer. I think I'll go the "take a picture" route to make my own "what a desk should look like" poster. Thanks!
thanks, the desk thing was an idea from ms. powell, and i want to see pics of your rooms through the year, comeon i love seing how reality changes our decor and arrangements and cleaness. btw the during the year photo was after 30 minutes of cleaning once after school left, notice the clock time. oh and yes everything must be packed in the cabinet or shelves, they like to do this so that teachers start over and the junk doesnt grow more and more and so its a fresh start. i enjoy it, it gives something to do when im bored in the summer and come back a week before i have too
I love the desk chart too. What does your perfect attendance challenge page say? That looks interesting too.
Hmmm. I don't have any pictures of the room. Sorry! But I have to concur that the room gets really awful after spring break. And of course that's when we have all of the prospective parents for next year visiting. We also have to strip our rooms down and pack everything, cover the shelves, etc. It is a huge chore.
the perfect attendance is a monthly challenge the school gives every teacher, for example this month its dunkin donuts so every day that you have perfect attendance a letter gets colored in, the first 10 classes with it colored in get a donut party or pixxa or ice cream or whatever they come up with
Oops! Forgot to say your room looks great. I'm moving to 3rd grade and the pictures gave me lots of great ideas!
Wow! Thanks for posting this! I love your room! Very organized. I was especially noticing the yellow chart hanging over the window. I'm going to be a new teacher and have tons of windows ... which is great ... but then I lack wall space. I was thinking of doing some word walls or charts/graphs on the window. Is that pocket chart or just some yellow paper? Or what is that? If you don't mind me asking!
We also have to strip our rooms and cover everything (bulletin boards, bookcases, shelves) with paper. They take everything out of our room to wax the floors during the summer. I spent over 5 hours today and I'm not done yet!
I"m another one who has to take everything down AND PUT IT AWAY. My room is used for summer school and anything I leave out disappears over the summer.
I love your room! Where did you get the wire shelves that hold the plastic storage containers next to the computer? (three large boxes high) I'd love to get something like that to use for storage in my room.
These are pictures of my classroom at the start of last year. I will be in a different room next year, so it will look completely different, but I will continue with my Hollywood theme.
I would love to post pics but I don't have any to post since I'm a new teacher! BUT ... I would LOVE to see more pics of classrooms !!!
Here are pictures of my room at the beginning of the year. I'm a Montessori teacher, so that's why it looks the way it does. http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/tracykaliski/classroom pictures/
Oh its so nice to see pictures of peoples' rooms Mine is all packed up--- I should have taken pics of the room I inherited and pics of the room now (one year later). I've thrown SOOOO much stuff away--- 4 huge bags today alone.
I'm amazed at the size of your classrooms and how you can put everything out! Include me on the list of those who love your "clean desk" poster. :thumb:
I love seeing pictures of other teacher's rooms!!!!!!!!!! I did a safari theme last year, too!!! Your desk area is spotless and organized.
Great pics! Anyone with Kindergarten pics to share? Tracyk- what age/grade do you teach? Kinder? I didn't see a housekeeping center? Is this a center Kinders are taking out of their classrooms? oops! not trying to hijack. Kinder pics anyone?
