    Hi everyone,
I just started Phonics remediation on Zoom with a small group of 1st grade students. Some are able to read CVC words with the short a sound, others mix up the final consonant sound (in CVC words), and some do not recognize any consonant sounds in isolation. I would like to know how to differentiate my lessons in order to meet the needs of all students.
Just as a side note, their computer knowledge is limited and for the time being they will be showing their work on whiteboards that they have at home.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Would you be able to get them into breakout rooms?

No I cannot as I will be the only teacher in the Zoom meeting. I cannot leave them unsupervised.

I would try increasing the number of groups/times to focus on different skills.

Can you have more Zoom meetings, but shorten the time? For example instead of 50 minutes with 20 students have Group A with 10 students for 25 minutes, and Group B with 10 students for 25 minutes.

Hmm, I would say is work on reinforcing the skills of others even if it’s repetiton for the ones that understand already. OR get the students that more comfortable to teach the other students what they know/ how to do it!!
