DH is a Naval Academy grad. His former roommate had his office shot up in the Navy Yard shooting this week. Another classmate was shot and killed. Headed to a funeral in DC tomorrow. Puts other stuff in perspective.

True, someone's always got it better, just like someone's always got it worse.

That's not the perspective I got from this week...just to live for every minute. Love the ones around you. Embrace the moment...

But take from any experience what you will...

Cza...prayers for all of you!! How tough for those left behind...
I know after my neighbor died my favorite quote was "Live each day as if it were your last and as if you are going to live forever."

Dh and his academy roommate went to the funeral mass and reception. Roommates wife and I wandered around National Harbor area while they were with their classmates. Then we all went back to DH roommates house on the Chesapeake Bay...we drank a few toasts and told a lot of stories remembering lost 'shipmates'. Thank you for all your thoughts...hug those you love.

I had one of these moments last week. A girl at my husband's school is essentially me... a grad from that school, second-year teaching, married for only a few months... she went mountain biking last month and ended up falling over the side of a cliff. She's now paralyzed.

Considering last week I was freaking out since I'm frequently exhausted, I think I can be appreciative that, if that's the worst that's happening to me, I'll be alright. =/

How does the saying go? Be happy by looking at what you have rather than what you don't, right?
