Do any of you have the Peanut Butter that they say might contain salmonella? We have it! I have ate a lot of it!!! It's Peter Pan and Great Value, and the code number on the cover starts with 2111.

Yes, we bought some last week. Our granddaughter ate some at daycare and is terriblely sick this evening. They ran all the test today. The final results aren't final yet, but the doctor is 99 percent sure that is her problem. It's been an awful day.

wow! I was thinking I was glad that I didn't give any to our grandson when he was here last week. Like I said, I have eaten quite a bit of it and feel ok, but I was on an antibiotic last week for a hand infection so I wonder if that fought something off.

Thanks for posting that; we had some in the cupboard!
Should I say at least the mono has made me too sick to eat? Salmonella on top of mono would have been really yucky...

I love peanut butter but buy Skippy. I heard on the news that people were actually selling it on ebay and that others were actually bidding. That is just wrong!

Yes. I just bought a huge jar two weeks ago. Wouldn't I have gotten sick by now if it was going to happen? I eat it every morning on my toast (including yesterday when I already knew it was "bad" - but I have no other pb in the house!) and last week I had pbj every day too! I will go buy more this weekend though. Since I couldn't have my pb toast this morning, I ate peeps for breakfast - at least that's my excuse for eating them right now:)

You have to wonder about people who would buy peanut butter (good or bad) on ebay.

Hescolin, I'm sorry to hear about your grandaughter. I hope that she feels better soon, I've heard its terrible.

There are a few ladies on the homeschoolspot that had some jars, and some are sick as well.

And the recipe bb I go to had at least 3 pages of people saying they either had the jars or were very sick from it. I feel bad.

I heard about it on the news. I eat PB every morning on toast and sometimes buy that brand. Luckily, I have been using Jif lately. Good luck to your little one, Hescollin.

We don't have any of it. We buy Jiff and Skippy peanut butter. But yesterday my dad found out my grandma (his mom) had some of the recalled peanut butter, she buys Peter Pan. She was only sick for a day, she was on alot of medication at the time. Luckily her doctor gave her antibiotics, along with other mediction for brochitis.

    :) Happy Birthday ABall:)

Happy Birthday ABall. Thanks for your concerns. GD is only a year and half years old. More later.

I use to buy only Skippy, but we really like Wal Marts Great Value.

I had two jars (one open and one not), so did several of the teachers at school, and one of my parents. Since some of my drop off moms had not heard about the recall, we sent home a notice in their backpacks....

    Oh, Grammy. LOL

If it caused food poisoning, though, antibiotics wouldn't be any help, would they?

I don't know, but they are giving our GD antibiotics.

I understand maybe it is caused because people didn't wash their hands good after bathroom breaks.

Currently, I have Jif...choosy moms choose Jif- that was an effective slogan, wasn't it?...but the peanut butter I bought to give our dog her arthritis medicine is from Wal-Mart and had 2111 on it. I've had it for quite a while and was almost empty. I know I have had it since before Thanksgiving, and possibly longer than that.

I don't know, but Hescollin said that's what they are giving her grandaughter...the antibiotic I was on was super strong because of my hand infection...so I don't know, but I think my MIL should try it and we'll see if she gets sick.

Oh, I bought a new jar today at Wal Mart and the shelves were nearly empty! It was quite funny to see. Does anyone remember the big ice cream scare back in the early 80's? We had a ball with that one.

I have great value peanut butter but it does not have a number on the lid. Where is this number? I think I am going to throw it away and just get a new jar. I don't need $1.37 that badly!

That's what I would do. I just finished up a jar of Skippy and I'll stick with that when I go to the store later (after 3 weeks of no grocery shopping).

If there was mail today, I could send you mine since it's so full still...lol. Though my husband would probably like to use it on his own mother:) He loves my parents, his mom makes some poor decisions in life. (I still don't think mine is tainted in anyway - I ate it for two weeks and have been fine...)

The number is on the lid OR was on the lid. Sounds like the number has been removed. The recalls number starts with 2111. I'd send it in and tell them that there wasn't a number on the lid.

Address to send the lids to:

    Con Ag Foods
    PO Box 3768
    Omaho Nebraska 68103

Guess what? While cleaning kitchen for MIL visit, I found some. Going to offer her peanut butter cookies I make with it. Just joking actually threw it out. We had eaten some. I don't think we got sick we only eat peanut butter sometimes so I dont remember the last time anyone ate any.

My fiances father was sick around Christmas, like the flu, only worse. Come to find out they had 2 jars of that peanut butter in their house. Needless to say, it is now gone, but they saved the lids to send in.

We took two jars back to Wal Mart tonight as we went by and they refunded at the store for us and saved us postage. Our liittle one isn't eating solid food yet, but is keeping liquids down. So little by little she is gaining. We are thankful indeed.

I havn't looked in the tread for a while, Thank you all for the birthday wishes, it was a wonderful day (full of jewlery and cookbooks!)

Now ladies, that is terrible about giving your mother in laws tainted peanutbutter..... My MIL is dead, never met the lady, but from what DH says about her, she wouldn't like me anyway. (but his grandmother would ;)

I really hope every one is up on the other latest tainted foods as well:

    Honeydew from DOLE
ready to eat chicken breast from OSCAR MAYER
and some one else mentioned mushrooms
