What are the pros of teaching part time? I have never really considered this position and just got a call to interview for a part time position in 3rd grade. I will admit I'm not too stoked on just part time and I know it's still early in the season (this is only the second call I've gotten) but I also know that jobs are more of a challenge to come by and I shouldn't be too picky. *sigh* What to do...?

Definitely go to the interview. And if you decide to take the position, realize that any experience teaching will only result in positive things!

Part-time positions sometimes turn into full-time positions.

Part-time positions sometimes allow you to aide or sub the rest of the time, giving you awesome experience you wouldn't otherwise have.

    Good luck!!!!

I agree with all the others. If it gets your foot in the door, go for it! :) Best of luck!

I've never heard of a classroom teacher being part time, what do the kids do the rest of the time...have a different teacher?

I do think part time positions are good though....I had one last year and it allowed me to sub the other half of the day.

I did part time this past year. I worked another job while I wasn't teaching and did a little subbing. Even though I was part time, I made sure to go above and beyond like I was full time. When the other preschool teacher resigned, they gave me the job without another thought. Now I will be full time.
