I have been given several hundred paint chips (probably close to 1000) by our local hardware store (for classroom use). Now I need some great projects to do with them!

So far, I have listing synonyms to make writing more colorful, creating colorful sentences, and using the single-color ones for exit cards.

What other great ideas do you have? What would you do if you had 1000 paint chips?

You could separate all the chips that are in the "skin color" spectrum. Then have the kids match their own skin as closely as they can, and name the color. Have them write about the characteristics of their color and how they chose the name.

This is an exercise from Teaching Tolerance, helping kids stop seeing "black" and "white".

Wow! I love these ideas! I have to admit, I read your original post and wondered what on earth I would do with all those paint chips. Great, keep ideas coming, I'm going out to the hardware shop to find some paint chips!

We are definitely doing this one: http://m.pinterest.com/pin/138837600982057532/ (synonyms)

And I LOVE the shades of skin idea! What a great writing prompt!

I also have some big charts with 8-20 paint colors. Those are getting glued into our notebooks as "word walls."

And I decided our theme this year is "adding a little color," so it'll all tie in. Plus that means I get to redo my room!

    ETA: More ideas??
