I was put on paid administrative leave with no reason explained. Head of human resources summoned me to the principal’s office at the end of the day stating she was ordered to come and give the letter that states paid administrative leave, but it did not say the reason. I asked her again and responded that someone at a higher level will contact me when needed. I work for a non-unionized charter school and was asked to retrieve my personal belongings, my work email has been suspended and was asked not to approach the school until given the OK.
No student or parent teacher problems, no problems with members of staff and this is my third year with good reviews in all my observations. Last Monday there was a school break-in while it was a school holiday, they got into four portables being mine one of them. I had inadvertently left the school computer which they took along with other things. The other 3 rooms were gone through by the perps, but nothing was taken. Any thoughts from any you?

Thoughts about why would probably unnecessarily worry you now.
I just wish you the best. The good part is you are liked and they are paying you. I am sorry though that you are going through this time of uncertainty.

While it may have something to do with the stolen computer, generally when a teacher is put on immediate paid administrative leave it is because they have been accused of wrongdoing related to a student, testing impropriety, theft, or grade improprieties. They are usually left on paid leave until the internal investigation is finished, and then either returned to job because they have been cleared, reassigned, given a letter of reprimand, put on a performance plan, fired, or fired and charged by civil authorities.. Based on the information you have provided, there is no way to determine what is going on. Only time will tell.

I wouldn't wait for them to contact you. I'd get a good employment lawyer immediately if I were you. According to your profile, you are age 65. If there is a serious problem, a good employment lawyer might be able to help you quietly retire if it turns out that you have been accused of something.

Isn’t it unusual to keep me in the dark on what I have been accused of?

Not if there is an investigation of wrongdoing pertaining to a minor. By not tipping their hand, they can assure that you won't interfere (either intentionally or unintentionally) with the investigation.

Speculating won't really do you any good right now, unless you really do have some idea what this is about.

Again, get yourself some legal counsel. Just being put on administrative leave, even if it is later found to be completely unfounded, can ruin a teacher's career. You need to safeguard your reputation.

My suggestion is to document everything that happens as it happens. Who specifically spoke to you, what they said, when it happened. Also what you have said/done in response (even going back to the break in...for example, did you have to submit a statement to police, or a record or the computer being stolen?)

It's hard to give more specific advice without knowing why this is happening, but I agree that seeking out an employment attorney may be a smart step too.

Yesterday morning I was escorted by the head of HR to get the rest of my belongings from the classroom. There is a long term sub assigned. HR told me they might contact me when they learn of positions that could be available for next school year at other schools within the district. Still not clear, al words are: might, could, would or maybe.

Wow! I really did not see that coming! I figured if it was just about the theft of a computer, they'd investigate, and bring you back. That is a bummer! Since they still are unclear, I might see an attorney too. I'd want to know what I was accused of.....That is just wrong!

There has to be more to this story than the OP has shared.

I would be surprised it that wasn't the case.
