Trying to avoid 3 years of schooling and $16,000 in tuition and books. Has anyone out there with NO prior PE education been able to study on their own and pass this thing?

Are there Anatomy, Biology, and chemistry questions on the test?

I'm thinking of buying all of the required text books from my local college without taking the classes. Anyone done this? Anyone recommend any specific books or methods of preparation?

    Thank you,

To find out what's likely to be on the test, go to the Web site, http://www.cset.nesinc.com, click on Test Guides, and find the material for PE. Look for the SMR (=Subject Matter Requirements) document. Pay attention to what gets mentioned most and how. Anatomy is fairly relevant; biology and chemistry questions will be somewhat more limited in scope and almost certainly in number. There's also a list of resources in one of the documents, though if the textbooks are more interesting, go with those. For more information about what California expects kids to learn in PE, find the Physical Education Model Content Standards - Google is most helpful.

Most important: think about how all of this stuff hangs together and makes sense.

    Best of luck!
