Despite a very fun evening last night, 2012 is not starting out great! I was having some neck discomfort yesterday, but I've woken up today to full fledged pain. I think it is a pinched nerve or something. I cannot move, at all. My neck hurts so bad, and it's giving me a tension headache. Help me...!

Oh kc! I am so sorry! I don't have an advice. I do hope that you can do something for the pain pretty quickly.

I missed a day of school for that type of pain ... ended up at the doctor.

Ouch. Many (gentle) hugs. Does heat or ice help the pain?

Oh, so sorry! My best friend passed a kidney stone last night. Happy New Year - it has to get better from here, right?

Doan's back medicine is the only thing that helps me when my neck goes out. It helps the neck pain where Advil, Motrin, Aleve, aspirin, and Tylenol won't. I get Doan's at Rite Aid, but CVS or Walgreens should have it.

Thanks for the advice on the Doan's, I might try that. I've ben taking Advil all day, and it helped a little. I've also been using those thermal patches, which helped a ton. Interestingly, it seems to be better when I am moving around rather than just lying down. I cooked dinner and hardly noticed it, then when we sat down to eat it was excruciating.

Try a shower and gently massage your neck maybe those can help?

I am much better today, thank you all. Just sore, but not immobilizing like yesterday. Just in time to give the house one more polish before tomorrow!

ThermaCare makes these great things that you put on your neck that generate heat and take away some of the discomfort. I would try an anti-inflammatory like Advil or Alleve, standing under a hot shower with the spray pointed at your neck, and slowly roll your neck and shoulders. But definitely if it is not better by the morning, I would see a doctor.
