Have you read all of the studies that are linking antiperspirants (and to a lesser degree, deodorants) to breast cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and all kinds of other horrible things? Just do a google search for it, and you'll find all kinds of alarming information. :(

I have a friend who just uses baby powder. I haven't quite jumped on that bandwagon yet, but I use Burt's Bees Herbal Deodorant, with Oil of Sage. It's a little pricey, but I love all of their products! Burt's Bees Deodorant

    Studies

Certainly there is no proof of such a relationship, and most of these are thought to be urban myths at this point.

I use Lady Speed Stick and after changing a tire in 90 degree heat, I can promise you that it works!

Oh, Lori, I should have phrased my response differently. The government has come out fully against the idea that either of those cause breast cancer. I was just trying to tell the story of my baby powder friend, and when I reread it -- well, what I wanted to say didn't come out right! LOL! I just thought the whole "controversy" was interesting.

    Okay, I got you, thanks

    for the clarification...

If I just used baby powder I don't think I'd have another teacher or student within 50 feet of me!

I use Lady Mitchum clear gel. It really works! I needed a change about two months ago, and I am really happy with Lady Mitchum.

I like the Degree Shower for women. I like it...it has kind of a powdery smell, but not too strong.

I just switched and I really like this one too! I was never a fan of the "moist" deoderants (not the stick), but this dries quickly and clear and works well.

Do you think the Secret Clinical Strenght really is stronger? I have tried so many different brands and nothing really seems to work on hot summer days.

I use Dove. I haven't found one that I'm not allergic to, but I'm least allergic to Dove ;) I buy all my lotions, shampoo, makeup, etc at the food co-op, but in 110 degree heat, I need strong deoderant!!

I used to use Secret, but it stained the underarms on my shirts.

I agree, I did in fact search the linkage between breast cancer and deodarant and their is no scientific evidence to link the two.

I wanted to try Secret Clinical Strength but it said you have to apply it at night. I MUST shower every morning or else I feel yucky all day. I just went to their web site and it said you can still put it on at night and take a shower in the morning and it will still work. I'll have to try it.

Add me to the Dove club. I used to love the secret ultimate (or something like that) but it gave me a rash. Evidently it does that to a lot of people (I called and asked). That is a place you really don't want a rash. I looked like a monkey for a week.

Is it true that freezing bottled water is also an urban myth??

I can see nuking your tupperware..because afterall, if that stuff melts, the plastic must be seeping in your food..and speghetti stains are stuck in those dishes.

but how can freezing water give you cancer??

I've been using Secret all my life. They do have a clear brand. A week ago, I tried using Johnson's baby corn starch for heavy sweating and chaffing in my bra! never had this problem, until I gained a little weight, and went up a bra size!

It seems to be better than my Shower to Shower powder. The old Johnson's and Johnson's baby powder just makes my clothes look messy! (I keep the baby wipes handy to clean it off!)

And it does not last any more, like it used to! :(

I have fell in love with Secret Clinical Strength. It is the best deodorant I have ever used. You have to let it dry a little bit before you get dressed but it lasts all day and I never feel like I am stinky or wet. I would highly recommend it! :2up:
