I already did. I moved classrooms and someone else moved into my old room so I had to get things going right after school got out. I'm pretty much done!
Nope- not yet although it would be nice to be able to get into the building. They are pulling up the carpet (asbestos) and replacing it in every classroom with tile. I have no idea when we'll be allowed in... Booo hooo
I did it right after school let out. I will have to do the bb's and set up the kids supplies. But that should just take maybe one day.
I packed almost everything away at the end of the year, and I'm going in to paint my room in a few weeks. I plan to go to IKEA this weekend when I drop my daughter at the airport - they have a wall-mounted shelf that's very shallow, and I'm going to mount 3-4 of them on the wall under my whiteboard to save room.
I have not because I live an hour away. Plus, I just received an e-mail that my carpets are not done yet. I had to move rooms, but all of my stuff is in my new room. I need to get in and paint a bookshelf. It is awful. However, I am not sure the paint is going to be much better, LOL. I bought a can of reject paint, and it would make a nice nail polish color, but I am not sure how well melon is going to turn out on a bookshelf I wanted something bright though I am flying home on Wednesday (to MI) and will be back the following Thursday. As soon as I go back, I am going to make a trip to paint and laminate at the very least.
I wish... I have started organizing things in my mind. There are a few things I want to rearrange/change- and some things I want to make.
I too had to move classrooms....again. Everything was moved out by the day after the last day of school. I had wanted to spend this week arranging furniture, but couldn't bring myself to make the long trip to school to do so. I will be there next week for meetings anyway, so I will probably get it all done then.
No, not yet. It seems too early. Maybe in about 2-3 weeks. About 1-2 weeks before I am required to be back at school.
Finished today. Can spend my preplanning days actually planning. And I've got some other duties that week so it's great to feel like I have something accomplished. Now it's just anything extra I want to do.
I've been sneaking in a little here and there all summer to reorganize. Today, I actually started moving things around and setting up my calendar corner. Can't wait to sneak back in tomorrow . It's a crazy addiction!
I'm pretty much done. I don't need to be back until August 13th, but there will be NO time to set anything up! We'l have our all day meetings on the 13th, have the 14th in our rooms, and open house on the 15th! I hate being rushed, so I'm ready to go! And before anyone asks, yes I have pics around here somewhere, just gotta remember which memory card they are on..
We aren't allowed in our building until the week before school starts...August 18th is our first day we are allowed back. I really wish I could get things finished now...it would be so nice to be in there and get it out of the way!
I've been in twice every week tutoring and have done a little bit each time. I moved out all the 3rd grade materials and unpacked my 5th grade books. I moved some files and started to go through them. Some of my shelves are going to be moved around, and I repositioned my desk. During teacher work week, I cleaned out my closet and moved some art things to a room down the hall.
I know that feeling. They actually did ours during the school year. we had to pack up our stuff and move out of our rooms for 3 days. We had class in one of the libraries. Then move back in and unpack and re-set up the room. I am also moving rooms... yet again, and am going to a room half the size of the room I was in. I really need to get in there and start going through stuff. I really just threw things in boxes to get things out of the old one, so the new person could get in. Our "new" tile has not been cleaned yet. they said maybe by the end of next week, so then I'm hoping to be able to get in and get started.
I had to move schools so I have been able to get in several times even though the building is supposed to be closed. I am almost finished and this will be a big help since I ended the school year thinking that I was not changing schools and ended up leaving and finding a better job.
I'm pretty much done. Finished setting up the room and putting things on the wall yesterday. All I have left to do in my room is put names on desks and my magnets, but I won't get my class list till preplanning on the 4th. I still have to organize my files, but I brought all of that home so I'm working on it a little bit every day.
Nope... I got the letter in the mail yesterday that the building will be open for us on July 21st. Pre-planning starts on the 25th. New people were allowed to move their stuff in this past week. I have ideas about how I want to arrange things this year that I didn't like how they worked last year but I haven't actually been in the building to do so. I will have bulletin boards ready to go up when I get there. I found tablecloths on clearance @ walmart for $.75 to cover my boards with. I have the labels (#) ready for the kids books and my reading corner books ready. I have piles of stuff in my living room and dining room so I am looking forward to getting it loaded up and out of my house. I am working on lesson plans though so I have done planning for the first 3 weeks so far.
You CAN NOT organize CLUTTER! Hey gang, Here is a great suggestion for those of you who are fixing up, straightening, perking up their rooms for the next school year. GET RID OF ANYTHING that you're not using in the next school year or 2 years. Make 3 different areas: 1. keep (only if REALLY necessary), 2. trash- you know what I mean by this too. 3. Donate-some of you have school sites where you can give stuff away. Also remember this rule, everything must have a home, a place, and it should be labeled and very easy to find as well. It may take some time, but plan it. Aspieteacher
I will not go to my room until the week before school starts which is Sept.4th, I think. I know where everything is so it is just a matter of putting it on the shelves and putting things on the student's desks. After 20 years I should have it down pat. Plus, I have original wood floors in my room and they must be cleaned and polished. That is usually not done until 2 weeks before school starts.
Yep, it's all done. I decorated before school got out last year. I went in this week and redid my file cabinet and cleaned out my desk and closet. We have two prep days before school starts and I plan on using them to visit and help out others.
I don't plan on going to school until the last week of July. I was at school yesterday and my room hasn't been cleaned yet. They used our wing for summer school, so it will be last for cleaning. Last year my room was first because I volunteered to paint my room. They moved all my stuff for me, let me paint, and then cleaned my floors.
We have to take everything down from the walls at the end of every year, so I have to go back to a bare room. We're not allowed back in until the 28 because the custodians are painting and waxing. I have been sketching out my bb just to get an idea of what I want. I'm going to go out and buy my tableclothes this weekend.
No. I'm not going to start until August 18, when teachers are due back at school. Students come back on August 25th.
I went in this past Thursday to work in my room. I moved my classroom library, set up my teacher work area, and small group area. I still have quite a bit to do in terms of laying out my room. It was so hot and humid in my room that I couldn't stand it any longer and had to leave. I may go in on Monday and if I don't, I won't go in until the following as I'm going to Las Vegas next week!
If this is directed to me, I definitely will take pictures once I'm all done with my room. It should be a couple more weeks before it's all said and done. I sorta wish I'd gone in today to work for a bit. I'm not good at leaving things unfinished.
I cleaned out most of the clutter (tends to be paper with me) before moving my stuff to a new room. I am moving to a retiring teaher's room so there is a TON of stuff. I am going to a training at my school at the end of the month. When I do, I am going to see if my room is ready (cleaning) to go in and work. If so, I'll start weeding out the outdated stuff and checking out all the loot. I took home a big tub of all the worksheets and tests and handouts that I have spent hours organizing by the chapter they correspond in our textbook. They are now filed in binders. Its been a big project, but a good excuse to watch movies while I do it. I am hoping it keeps my desk from looking like an explosion since all the papers will be together and organized. I have also started to plan out the year...hope to get at least the whole first semester roughly planned out...down to homework I'll assign and assignments and lessons I'll use. Every class warrants different approaches, but I figure it is easier to adapt a lesson that to create the whole thing when you are bogged down with other tasks during the year. I also feel like I am more creative and enthusiastic with lessons in the summer than the school year...so I'll give the preplanning a try and am hoping the school year goes more smoothly because of it.
ALmost Done I have spent weeks on end organizing and reorganizing. I have my bulletin boards to do- Can't get near the laminator! And I have to clean out my desk, finish the closet, Then I will be done. Hopefully before the last week in July. I promised a friend to help her set up her classroom during our 1 day of inservice we can actually work in our rooms.
