I just got into my classroom today and I am in love with it already! =) It is white and one wall is bright green-- love it. =) Anywho.. I don't have any pictures to show you yet, but I am seeking some organizational advice. I would like to create a reading nook as well as a classroom meeting area. I have the space to do it, I just have to figure it out. My classroom is very rectangular. I have 2 long tables where they will sit (only have 11 kids--12 would be the max). The whole room is carpeted, but I also have an area carpet as well. I'm not sure if I should use that in a reading nook or in the meeting area. How do you determine where to section things off? The front of the room seems perfect, but then the tables would have to be further from the main white board. In the back there are 2 computers, a tall shelf that currently has some books on it and then my desk. I also have an extra kid table with 4 chairs. This probably doesn't make sense without pictures and my camera cord is currently MIA. =) If anyone could just sort of give me any suggestions on how they determined where to put things or how to create a reading nook, I would really appreciate it!!! I just want to make the best use of space, but it seems more difficult because the room is longer. THANKS!
I would use the carpet for your meeting area so that has a well defined space. You can always make your reading area sectioned off with shelves and make it cozy with pillows since it is already carpeted. Do you have an easel with a white board? If so, you may not need to have your meeting area in front of your board.
Can I suggest this book?? It's called Classroom Management In Photographs. http://www.amazon.com/Classroom-Man...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218585741&sr=8-1 Ever since I bought this book & shared it with collegues, thats all they've been talking about. It was a God send for me.
I have an easel that has a big notebook on it, I'm not sure if there is a white board beneath it or not. I will check tomorrow! I do not have that book, but I will look it up! Thanks!!
