is any one having a open house?
or could some body give me some guide lines for doing one.
When we went to an open house at our local Montessori school we were in the three year old class. The teachers showed my little girl how to use the materials, like the pushpin activities. They let her choose each thing she wanted to do. They sat with her as we talked to the Directress and toured the rest of the school.
I was impressed at how they took care of her, really.
Another thing that impressed me was a lady we met there.
She boasted about this school, helped us find our way, explained things.
It wasn't until the end, when we asked what grade she taught, that we found out he was only a parent with a child in the school.
That's commitment to your child's education.
So, I would have your activities out and accessible, have someone there to help so you can talk to parents, and make up a folder of information that families can take home to consider.
Keep it simple and easy to read.
Have your credentials available, too.
If I were putting my child in a home setting, I would want to know all there is to know about the person running it.

our open house starts tomorrow.
where i live saturday is the day most people are out in about, so i am hoping many drop ins.
we have a rented mobile sign to atract people driving by, with many balloons.
i hope this is successful.
My husdband is a better talker then me , too so I lieke it when he is wit me.
i want to have a theme or something to attract their attention to in our entrance but dont know what?
go go girls
you make me laugh
i meant like what the children are working on right now or something to welcome them to our school.
When we have open house, I have much of the children's art displayed. This year we made two different quilts (out of felt and paper and decorated with different things)...these were used to show math concepts and cooperation. However, what I really wanted to say was that I always put fresh flowers on the counters and tables and have good smelling plug in air freshners. It's all about first impressions so make sure things are clean and pretty to the eyes and nose!
i hope it goes well.

One person wasting space making fun of people is enough.
It's not amusing and it needs to stop.
Hometeacher...I hope you have a great open house! I bet it will go just fine because of all your hard work and enthusiasm. You are an asset to this forum. I appreciate your posts because you are so open minded and honest...and have a very good sense of humor!!!

open house still going strong.. till nov 22
today i had a woman visit from another montessori school in kingston and she was so lovely. she came with flowers and a card to welcome us to the montessori community.
Her school has been up and running for 5 years and is pleased to see more montessori school around. she to says that it can be quite tricky to get your name out there.
but she gave me nothing but good support.
i am so happy that there are people out there who care about others .
Up to what age does your school take?
Five full days per week, mornings, afternoons and a supervised lunch period for children 2 1/2 to 6 years of age. This program offers the students the opportunity to further develop their interests in the academic areas of the classroom, and prepare them for the elementary program
