It's over, and it went splendidly! My dh joined me for the day and was a huge help. He helped me set up this evening-I wouldn't have been ready without him. I used the entire half hour to present, and got a lot of laughs. I hadn't even thought of what to say ahead of time, and now I wish he had videotaped it so I could watch and write down what I DID talk about. The school's owner was in my room the entire time, and she laughed a lot, too, so I'm going to take that as a good sign. Anyhow, I thought I would share some pictures-anyone else have great open houses this year? Looks great! I always have a candy dish on hand but you really pulled out all the stops. congrats on the success!
Ours was last night. We call it curriculum night. We talk to the parents about our expectations, curriculum, etc. Mine went really well. One parent, who is on the board, offered to buy us two laptops and a projector! Others said they wished they were in my class.
Ours was the 9th and it was great. I had over 60 parents come in my room. That was way more than last year. We also has standing room for PTO afterwards. I think what inspired them was that we had a drawing for the parents, students, and teachers. The students wanted the ZOOM I think the students pushed the parents to be there it was great. We are having another drawing next nine week
Great pictures! How do you use the gumball machine? Is that for yourself or the kids? You have a lot of great ideas in your classroom and it looks very inviting.
Upsadaisy-That is FANTASTIC news!!! Hooray for technology. I'm still waiting for my two desktops to be hooked up.... TennisPlayer-I got that gumball machine at a garage sale for $4! It's awesome. I keep pennies on hand and pass them out to students for various accomplishments. It has skittles in it right now. I grab a large bag every now and then at the store to refill it. I figure they won't melt in the heat like chocolate would, and I def. don't want gum in my room.
I like your idea of the gumball machine! We have a marble jar that motivates my students as a class. Our school has a student store where the kids can buy things with their tickets they earn in class. Each ticket is just worth 1 so they can save them or buy something if they have enough!
My daughters school also has a store where they can spend their tickets. I wish the school I teach at had the same thing. Cool!
That room looked great and even better than the pics you posted on another thread! If that picture of a man helping put out food is your dh he is a cutie pie! The food looked good too I know your parents loved that extra step!
I always love to see how your ideas come out in the end. Everything looks awesome--including your lamp and bust w/hat!!!
Ha! I'll tell my dh that you all think he's cute. Maybe he'll warm up to this forum after all...... wait-it's 10pm on a Sunday, and I'm in here reading posts.... never mind.
Glad you had a great open house! Wow, I never even thought to have refreshments out for parents...good idea! I'll store that one away. Hehe. Were you nervous with your husband there? I think I would be...probably because it would be my first time but once I had it down pat I'd wanna show off, hehe!
Does he have a younger brother or other relitive?(im 21 yrs old so I am guessing hes too old lol) (I am Just kidding in case you did not rilize but He is a cutie!)
Haha, manda! He's an only child, at the ripe old age of 28. We met online-create a profile and go man-shopping tonight! :2up:
HAHA! He's old enough for me then yahh! too bad he's taken by you! LOL j/k! About the online dating thing- I would never do that too risky but it did make me laugh!
