Anyone have any cute ideas for open house? I know someone says they provide candy for the parents. I have a coloring sheet for the students to color and then the parents fill out their needed forms but does anyone else do anything fun or unique?
I usually have a pitcher of lemonade and cookies sitting out. I have all their paperwork in folders on their desk and tell the parents they can fill them out there or bring them in on the first day of school. I can tell by the end of the night who has come and who hasn't by the folders that are still on the desk. I also have a sign in sheet. Prior to the first day, I make a checklist of ALL the different forms and papers they are bringing back. I run them all on different colors too, so I can just ask them if they have brought back their "red" form.
I have kids do 'self portrait heads'. We attach the heads to a ruler and tape the heads to the students' chairs. Then we 'dress' each chair with a tee shirt or sweatshirt that each student brings in...Looks (kind of) like the kids are sitting at their seats when the parents come in. I direct the parents to tell their kids that they were so shocked to come in the room and see them sitting there when they knew that they had just left them at home!!
