The first day is done. The kiddies have gone home, and I'm getting a chance to sit quietly. I think it will be a fun year. This is a very perceptive group. I am shocked by how observant they are! They are going to drive me nuts with their millions of questions, but we can work on that. All in all, it was a good day. Now I need to go home, take a shower, and rest my voice. My throat is raw from talking so much.

My first day was today too. My kids are the exact opposite of observant. In fact, I am a little shocked at them. They write very poorly. It is going to be a LONG school year.

But I am glad yours went well:)

It it MUCH too early to be thinking about this. Right now I'm just focused on Labor Day weekend! The first few days are always...not rough...uncertain I guess. You never quite know who's going to walking through your door. These kids were questioning me rapid fire and didn't even stick to one topic. When do we start special classes? Are we having classroom jobs? What about changing our cards? When do we go to our lockers? What will our first science experiment be? Do we need protractors for math right now? WHY NOT??? Do you really have ashes of problems students in that jar? Now if I can teach them to think for themselves (brainstorming class jobs was like pulling teeth) we'll be in business!:p

A friend of mine bought me one of those ceramic jars that have funny sayings on them. Some say golf fund or Vegas fund or ex-wife's car keys or whatever. She found one that says ashes of problem students. I keep it on a high shelf in the room. Most years the kids don't notice it until the second quarter. Until yesterday, I never had anyone ask about it before October! All in good fun.
