Overall, I'm a happy & optimistic person, but these days, I'd say 6/7. I'll be happier when I have a permanent job & my own place.

5-6, circumstantially, with highs reaching 8 and lows as low as 2.

That sounds like our weather forecast for this past Monday!

I'd say a 9. I love my family, my job, and my circumstances...if I had a few more bills paid off, I'd say a 10.

At the moment, deep into the negative numbers. I'm in tears once again-- the wake at school was today. I'm just so very tired of crying for coworkers who have died.

On any other day, a 9.

    :hugs: Alice. That's hard.

I'd say that on a good day I'm a 7; on a bad day a 2. With the husband gone, being a single parent, not liking the state education is heading in, and the job, it's kind of hard to keep my smile in place.

I understand that most feel that we control our own destiny...but sometimes the world throws you a curve ball or two. I am having a week of major curve balls. Feel like machine at batting practice is loaded and pointed my way.

I always find myself saying, "I'll be happy when... I'll be happy when..." but then I realize that those goals come and go and I'm always looking to the next thing, so I should just be happy NOW!

Good advice from Mother Teresa.... "Bold" lines are my favorites..

"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
    Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
    Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
    Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it."

    — Mother Teresa

Typically I'm around an 8/9. I'm pretty happy and easygoing naturally. Right now I'm more around a 3. Things at work are crazy, and I've been sick for about three weeks. I'm taking prednisone for walking pneumonia, and I'm moody and gaining weight by the minute. Ugh.

Pi is an irrational number, Major.

It was just a pun, playing off the idea of irrational.

    Thanks Alice...:hugs::hugs:..

Actually I'm aware Pi being an irrational number .. (and mentioned that in post #18).

Perhaps she thinks I post too much.... (i.e. repeating) I hope not. I have fun on the boards.....:)

And on a "happiness factor" I'm still a 10+......

This year a 9.5. I have a healthy daughter, a loving husband and FINALLY a teaching job in a great school. I feel very blessed. Last year I would have said 6-7. I have always been happy with the little things in life and I try to live that way.

I'd probably say around a 4-5 at the moment, due to stress and just general negativity about what I should do with regards to a discriminatory professor I have and the failure of the disability services to do anything of use.

Usually I'd say I'm a 9 or 10, but the last two weeks have brought an unbelievable amount of stress concerning my housing situation. Sunday, I couldn't get off the couch. Today, it's a bit better, but not much. As soon as I know where I'll be living 3 weeks from now, I'll be back to my bouncy, cheery self.

8 1/2 haha. I love my job, love my students, and love my coworkers. I moved here for a job and that was REALLY hard at first to not know anyone (my closest friend was over 10,000 miles away) but I've made some friends outside of work too this year and I'm a lot happier living here socially since then. I'm a little aprehensive about my job for next year. We're combining with another school and I'm afraid my job is going to become part time. Both schools are very tiny and have one intervention teacher- and we both have the smallest caseloads in the district. The other teacher is tenured. I don't think they'd be able to have just one person for all those students, but our department keeps talking about how much money we're losing and I'm afraid mine will just be part time. I can't afford to live here on a part time salary. My principal and the teachers at my school love me- but I think the exceptional student services department would have say over my principal since its technically their budget. I've also had a lot of run ins with the director lately (its not just me- no one can stand her) which normally wouldn't bother me as she mostly leaves me alone to do my job, but with cuts it makes me worried.

It changes constantly. I'm under a lot of stress but then I also have a lot of adventure. So it evens it out pretty well. At the moment I'm on cloud nine because I just spent the day with women (new neighbors) and they weren't my coworkers. I'm having a blast getting to know my new neighbors.

Well, my happiness rank just plummeted. My mom tells me that she'll go to her grave not wanting me to marry my current BF. She's a very rigid thinker who will just always think that he's not the guy for me, so that's all there is to it. Does this make me happy? Of course not. Now, since I'm a grown adult, my mom knows she can't do anything about it really. I still live w/ my parents though, so this situation is harder to go through. She gets in her lectures to me about it every several weeks or so. I've got to get my own apt ASAP.
