I was at school today getting ready for summer school which starts on Monday. When I came out, my driver's side window was completely shattered, and you could definitely see where the impact strike was.
I had to call the police who came out to investigate. They said it definitely was shot out (not a rock or other object thrown). Oh my goodness!
Luckily, I am in NEA, and I am pretty sure that there is insurance for "vandalism that occurs on school grounds". Does anyone have any experience with this? I called, but of course, it was well after 5:00 by the time the police got done and everything.
    RATS!

    Beezus,
Our local NEA office has special insurance for vandalism on school grounds. Definetely contact your local office. You'll need your police report number.

I am so sorry this happened to you... the only thing to be immensely grateful for is that this didn't happen with any children on school grounds.

That really stinks, but thank God you weren't in your car and kids weren't on campus when it happened. When it comes down to it, as much as it stinks to have your car vandalized, possesions can be repaired or replaced. People can't be replaced, so we're awful glad that nothing happened to YOU.

That is so awful- but thank goodness no one was harmed.

I am sure that will be covered under the insurance. We were told in a recent meeting that something like that would.

Yes, just to repeat what the others have said, I'm also glad that you were not in the car when it happened and that you are okay. Even if it's a hassle to fix the damage, the more important thing is that you're okay. Are shootings common in the area???? I wonder if it will happen again? :(

Wow. That's REALLY scary. I'm glad you weren't hurt. That sucks though about your car. Hopefully your insurance can help you work it out.

If I remember correctly, the NEA insurance should cover it all. I can't call till Monday- they were already closed by the time I discovered it. My P is out of town, but will review the security tape when back in town.
Yes- I'm very grateful no one was hurt. I suspect (as the police did) that it is a kid (or kids) with a BB Gun. My goodness- the glass was clear across the other side of the car! Hopefully, the tapes will show something, and they'll be able to stop whoever it was. It would be more than awful for this to continue and possibly injure someone!

 How disturbing! So glad you or anyone else wasn't hurt. I guess the police couldn't speculate who may have done it or if there was a possible motive, right?

I am glad you are okay.

Last year, one of our tecahers had tht wheels stolen off of her car in the middle of a busy school day. The thieves even left the jack. Our parking lot sits on a fairly busy street and no one noticed anything strange.

Hopefully the NEA/insurance thing will go smoothly and you'll get your car back soon (and whole). This is something I worry about a lot myself, since I work in the inner city, and I drive the most stolen car in america (Honda Civic, though the actual "most stolen is a 95 civic and mine's a 99). I'm suprised the NEA doesn't have an emergency hotline that's open until at least midnight. That's dissapointing.

YIKES! How scary!! I am glad that you are alright!

I would think NEA would have a hotline for 24 hour reporting! Something to check into!

I hope they find them, too. Thank goodness you are fine, Beezus. Very unnerving for you, though.
