Has anyone ever take HQT courses for Math, Science and/or Social Studies? I have to take all three courses this summer through the Ohio Central ESC and am a little worried. If anyone has taken them, or has taken any courses like this, what do you think I should expect?

    First of all, welcome!

If you're taking the courses through the ESC, you should be fine. Their specialty is working with IEP students and those who serve them. I've subbed through Franklin County ESC and appreciated how well they provide for their teachers.

It DOES sound like a busy summer for you. Hang in there!

I took the HQT for math through an ESC. It was a very easy online class and I learned basically nothing. But I am now HQT in math.

You only have to take 1 or 2 classes to be certified in the 7-12 HQT areas. I have a 7-12 HQT license in Social Studies and I would have had to take a class in Math, Science, and LA to be certified and HQT in the other areas to teach. If you talk to your ESC you will be fine.
