The battery in my watch died and the only one I had with a working battery was a Mickey Mouse watch.
Was that a mistake to wear it to work! The distraction was ridiculous! Every time I walked up to a student to help with work, that child and everyone sitting nearby just wanted to look at the watch and ask me questions about it. I know I've worn it before without problems. I must have had on long sleeves that covered it. I finally ended up taking it off and putting it in my pocket. They still all wanted to see it, though. :|
The things that stop everything in a classroom never cease to amaze me.

LoL oh yes, kids of ALL ages will ALWAYS find a way to distract themselves.

I have a tattoo on my leg, but since I wear long skirts or pants most days, the kids can't see it. But once the weather changes and I've got on shorter bottoms, WATCH OUT. I'll be reading a story with my leg crossed and I feel all these eyes on my leg.

I've been asked (ALWAYS during instruction time, never at a more appropriate time like recess, lunch, dismissal, or arrival):

    1. What does my tattoo say?
    2. Did it hurt?
    3. Do my parents know i have a tattoo?
    4. Does Mr. Catz know I have a tattoo? Does Mr. Catz have a tattoo too?
    5. Why do I have a tattoo?
    6. Was I born with the tattoo?
    7. How old was I when I got the tattoo. Was I a kid?
    8. Is it a real tattoo or the kind you put on with water?
    9. Does it come off if I wash it really hard?
    10. How do you get a tattoo?
    11. Did I draw the tattoo myself?
    12. Do I have more tattoos?
    13. Does getting a tattoo hurt more or less than getting your ears pierced?

lol I love the questions even though you have to redirect, it is nice to see students thinking and wondering about the world around them.
