I am in the same boat. The only Office Max in the state is 100 miles away. Does Staples really match the coupon? If so, that would be awesome.
I sure hope it works. Thanks for the tip.

The laminator broke before they got to my order yesterday - and I was only 3rd in line. I wish they would've called to tell me it wasn't ready, but when I got there she was waiting for the guy to come fix the laminator. I'll call before I go back this time. I'm not in a hurry so it's not a huge deal, but it did waste some gas.

I picked mine up this morning although it was done five hours after I dropped it off yesterday! They did a great job!! Now I get to cut it all out!! I just keep chanting "at least it was free"!! LOL
The quality is very good too!
When I was picking mine up, there were a few other pick ups waiting on the counter. One was a huge roll of BB letters individually laminated!! I asked if they minded doing letters and they said they don't mind and to bring more things next Thursday!!
They also let me double the limit on the 1 cent folders and the other supplies since I'm a teacher.
    What nice people!!
My store said it was advertised in the paper and that they do this every year.

The person I talked with said that the coupon stated that a week was needed to complete the order. I didn't see that on the coupon. I couldn't stay how ever many hours he said it would be. Couldn't wait on it since school starts on Aug. 15th and there is no chance of going back to that store before then. Oh well.

They do the teacher appreciation thing every year, but our manager said it was the first time they've done the free laminating.

What coupon? Where do you (or can you still) get one? Wow... are they still doing this free laminating this Thursday Aug. 9th?

I printed a coupon off their website (there was a link here somewhere - either at the top of this thread or on another one of the Office Max threads). But they never asked for it.

Was anyone else asked to show a coupon?

And yes, as a pp mentioned, the laminating is Thursdays through September 13th!

No coupon needed here. Just proof of being a teacher.
I already have a stack ready for next Thursday!! Yipee!!
I'll do the folders this time too. I have over 80 of them. Even if I don't use them this year, I'll get a head start for next year.
Folders are on the kids' supply list...I'll trade them one of their unlaminated for my laminated one. Then, I'll take them to get laminated on the 13th.:)

This may be a silly question, but what's up with all the laminating of folders????? I've never heard of that. What is the point of laminating folders?? Sorry if I sound like this ::whistle: a little out of the mix.:)

I would imagine that the lamination makes the folders stronger and less likely to rip or tear. I just buy the poly folders for the kids anyway. I know those last!

I'd never heard of doing the folders either until I read it on another thread! Makes sense though!! Especially if you're planning on having the kids handle the folders daily.

I did some cutting last night then when I went to use my scissors today to cut more, I realized my thumb was sore and bruised...I'm a lefty and so scissors always bruise my fingers...they are shaped for right hands and I use them with my left. I CANNOT cut with lefty scissors!! I want to cut some more but I can't bear to hold the scissors. The pain is awful!! I'll probably need a few days for the bruising and sensitivity to go away then I can cut again for a day!! AGHHHHH!!!!:(

Speaking of bruises...I bumped my leg the other day when I was moving stuff around at school. Boy did I get a nasty bruise from it too!

I am also a lefty AND I use the kids' scissors - I feel like I have more control with them so I have a bruise within 5 minutes of starting. My laminating would've been $184 if it wasn't free so I'll have quite a bruise when I'm done, but half the job is done and I don't go back to school for 2 more weeks so I'm happy!

My laminating was supposed to be ready today at 5. When I called up there to check on it, they said they were running behind and it would be ready tomorrow at 2. :0(

About the bruising from the scissors -ouch! I've gotten those before - kind of a bruised, pinched nerve right at the base of my thumb.

I used the rotary cutter they had at Office Max. It was so fast and easy! Would only work for straight lines, but I am so glad I spent the time (maybe 15-20 minutes) there trimming my 30 folders. It would have taken me hours at home (with a 2-year-old trying to help). And no bruising!

I wonder if they would mind if I came in Monday and used their rotary cutter? Irelly can't even touch that part of my thumb without flinching and I really do want to get my trimming done before I send another batch to be laminated this next week. I'll call them and ask. Thank you! I didn't even know such a tool existed!!:hugs:

It was in the self-serve section. A long table sort of with a safety guide and a little roller thing in the back. You just line up the edge of your stuff with the edge of the safety guide and zip the thing across. If your OM has one of those it's there for you to use!

I live in Puerto Rico and the laminating had no limit at Officemax. If I were to have paid, it would've been 370.00. I saved a fortune!

I think the majority of us got free unlimited laminating. I've only read one or two posts where the store did not comply and I wonder if that is just employees taking it upon themselves not to do their jobs? How can it be the same everywhere except one or two stores. Shame on them.

Last Thursday I took in all my posters that and displays for my class that I wanted laminated. This week I was planning on taking in all the center activities that I'm making for reading. Would that be awful to do? There are hundreds of little index sized cards. I would love to laminate them, so I never have to make them again (or at least not for a long time) but I also don't want to annoy any employee who has to stand there and hand feed all my centers into the machine :)

You know, that really bugs me. Which is why I'm thrilled with the OM deal. Teachers are "not allowed" to use the laminator at our school. There is one aide who is the only one allowed to use it. Don't they understand how much we need laminated BEFORE school starts?

That's what I was afraid of! I'm a new teacher, and need all of my calendar stuff laminated for the first day of school. I was thrilled to see this deal. I dropped off all of my stuff at 8:15 this morning. She said she had a feeling they would "inundated" today, so I was glad I dropped off mine early. She said it will take up to a week, but for free, I can't complain!

WHAT?! I'm shocked teachers at your school aren't able to use the laminator!!! When I was a first year teacher I laminated things for about an hour after school weekly until I got all my new stuff completed! I can't imagine not being able to use it! I'm a laminating freak! I laminate everything...including all my bb boarder.

Today was my second Thursday dropping things off at OM. They were so nice again but people are really starting to bring them lots more than last week. I guess the news is spreading!
I took in ALL...every single one of my BB borders!! I have some that have never been used so I threw those in the bag too. I figure this way they will last a lot longer!! I will use a tacky putty to put them up instead of staples so I don't tear holes in them. I had a huge bag with well over 500 border strips!! I'll only cut them out as I use them otherwise I will lose my mind!! I only just got done cutting out last week's laminating yesterday!! So glad it's free!!! YAY!!!
Next week I'm taking in all my BB letters. I have about 15 brand new packs of letters...all sizes and colors!! (BTW...I inherited al the borders and letters from another teacher who resigned!! She was going to throw it all out!! I would never spend all that money of that stuff. But, that's why I want it laminated...because hopefully I won't have to buy any for many years to come!)

We have a certain people who are "allowed" to use the laminator. We are also limited to the amount every year. Last year it was 100 feet per teacher

I still haven't gotten mine back from last week! I called yesterday and she said they were sooo sorry, but still working on it. They told me when I dropped it off that it would take a week. Now I am going to take more stuff today. Yikes~ Don't know how that will go over. The county that I live in where our OM is located, their school started this week. I teach private preschool in the neighboring county and we still have a few weeks. I figure for free I'm patient and as long as I have it before school starts, no complaints here!!

We have one person who can laminate at our preschool as well. One person with 20 teachers from preschool, 20 teachers from weekday church education program & all the church stuff (sunday school, etc..) So it's a nightmare to wait on your stuff. You must also ask permission for each and every item from the powers that be. I'm getting stuff done that has been mounting up and stuff for projects!! (class book covers, posters, charts, file folder games, etc....) And yep, I try to do my borders as well!!

My school has this rule too. Aparently some teachers have put art projects with glitter through the machine and it messed up the machine. So, because some teachers were not repsonsible, we have to be "trained" to work the machine and those are either volunteers or one teacher per grade level. That makes me mad that our school doesn't even trust it's own staff, yet I cn go to a store at our mall and laminate (for a charge of course).

I would go crazy if they wouldn't let us laminate our own stuff at school. I don't laminate everything, but I did have to stand in line for the laminater this morning. I think they are changing the film twice a day at my school! School starts Monday, so it should slow down after that.
