Another year, and more vandalized textbooks to comb through. This year my principal asked me to check the long-term sub's books. Turns out, 20 percent of her are unusable and will have to be junked. The others have bad words and icky picies. These are seventh-graders! Some I use a pen on; others get the Whiteout. Sometimes I have to tear entire pages out. This took me 3 days last year. 3 days! And not even a thank you from the P. This year, I may have some aides do the work. they have so little to do anyway - at least at this place Is this a good idea? I have a lot going on I have to take my daughter to photoshoots, I'm working on my movie script - I took an online screenwriting course and got an A for it! I'm thinking I will get some bites - I don't feel like being students' cleanup lady anymore.
That's always a kid job. I take up textbooks, get a couple of reliable kids to go through and erase stuff. They love being helpful. And any that are really bad are charged to the kids.
At the alternative school, they keep using the same books because that's all they get. I have seen pictures of burning crosses in the science books.
We had to get rid of our textbooks. Yep, ALL of them. Even in math. However, when we did have them, I kept mine in good shape. A coworker of mine let her kids destroy hers. She must have been asleep because in some, every page was vandalized. Next time your principal asks, I would say no. Let him or her do it.
You could barely go on this forum anymore like me, but you can never forget the rediculous posts of damaged individuals.
Congratulations on your screenwriting class mark! As you're working on your script, can I recommend that you work hard at the believability of your writing? I just notice that's your main issue with your writing on this site. Always want to help out a future writer!
