Hey, guys! I know I haven't posted in a while, but I've been reading up on all the latest. My corporate training doesn't leave a lot for discussion on the elementary boards where I'm use to chatting. ;)

Anyhow, I know a few months back a lot of you guys gave me great ideas for the baby nursery (due in June). I thought some of you might be interested in pictures of the final result.

Our original idea was to do bright blue, red and green with a forest theme. Gnomes, owls, tree stumps, etc. But it morphed in to a softer mint/chocolate brown scheme with children's books. If you have any suggestions on ways to make it better, let me know! Now that this done, I'll have more time to jump in here and post again. ;)

The frames above the bed will have 8x10 pictures of dh's parents, my parents and my brother/his wife. We'll say 'good night' to them each night before bed. (We're pulling the crib away from the wall slightly when baby is in it so the frames can't fall in to the crib during an earthquake.) The frames above the dresser have his ultra sound pictures in them, and the blank frame will have a picture of the baby when he's born.

The swing is not staying in the room, but we don't want to deal with it in the living room right now.

The four lower bins in the toy/bookshelf have: beanie babies/plushies, wooden toys, teething/sensory toys and puppets. The upper bin has board books.

The bins in the changing table area have disposable diapers, g Diapers (small), g Diaper inserts and Bert's Bees products/clippers/etc.

My friend made me the mobile for my birthday without even thinking about the nursery, so I'm psyched that it fit so well.

I have both dh's and my diaper bag hanging by the door so we can grab them on the way out. I can also make sure dh keeps his stocked this way.

    Looks lovely. :)

Instead of moving the bed from the wall, I would have faith in two of the a-mazing 3M Command velcro picture strips per frame.

    It looks wonderful Jem.

I like that the mirror is over the changing table... it's much easier to clean a mirror's surface than a painted wall when that "pea shooter" goes off ;)

Very nice Jem. The colors are wonderful and soothing. Per my PM, I would suggest some brain development items on the mobil. I know your friend made it, but you would add some items.

Diznee-I KNOW! We have to turn this kid in to a Wolverine. I'm bringing him 'home' in Sept, so hopefully the relatives (and a trip to the M Den) will shower him in maize and blue!!

Jem, the room reflects all the love, thought and hard work that went into it. Great colors and a mixture of natural elements! I think the mobile probably won't work when the baby can grab onto it, and I am not sure it is very eye catching, but I know you appreciate your friend's efforts. The mirror by the changing table is a great idea but make sure it is secured on the bottom because when they fight getting changed, arms and legs can flail and maybe knock it over. You could also screw in the picture frames which I think are a very nice touch. How much longer do you have to go?

Thanks, guys! We do need to move the mirror up higher-it's way too low right now. We def. don't want the baby to hit it. And the mobile will be hung higher as the baby gets older. It's mostly for looks right now.

The owl is actually a humidifier! He's so funny and cute looking! Just about everything in the room is used or repurposed. We did get the book/toy shelf new from Ikea, as well as the bins new from Target. But everything else was repainted from garage sales, Freecycle and Craigslist. So overall, I think we spent around $400 on everything-furniture, rug, shelf, paint. ;) Made me miss decorating my classroom.

Thanks again, guys! I'm pretty darn happy with how it turned out. I can't wait until he's a little older and can tell me what he wants his next room to look like. I'm going to have him draw his dreams, and then figure out how to turn it in to reality. A moonscape, a pirate ship, an underwater sea floor... he'll get fantasy rooms for sure. ;)

Dh said this room looks like an ice cream parlor, haha. I said 'great! Go get me ice cream and we'll sit here and eat it....'.

Love it! My favorite part is how your baby isn't even born yet and already has such an extensive book collection :D

We never got to do the nursery thing because we live in 1 bedroom... baby started in our room and is now in a sort of sectioned off bit of living room... but we will have to move on one of these days and I totally want to paint a tree in the kids' room just like that. I love the way the picture frames are hanging from the branch. The whole room looks great. I love the colors, so peaceful and neutral yet still colorful.
