Has anyone used a good novel in a Middle East or South Africa unit? I would like to incorporate a novel into either of these upcoming social studies units for my 8th graders.

    Thanks!!

"Waiting For Rain" and "The Middle of Somewhere" both by Sheila Gordon

"No More Strangers Now - Young Voices of South Africa" by Tim McKee

Nye, Naomi Shihab "19 Varieties of Gazelle: Poems of the Middle East"

I also found this website about young adult novels based in the middle east
