(i've also posted this in the job seekers forum...) so i just posted that i got a maternity leave job (yay!). i've begun paperwork and am doing orientation next week. the board meeting is next week and that's when it's official. is there anyway that i would not be approved? i just want to tell my previous employer that i won't be back and i also want to start looking for apartments. thanks!
I have never heard of a board not approving someone. Typically it seems to be a technicality. I think you are GOLDENNNN!!!!!!!!
The only reason that you wouldn't get approved is if a board member or super had someone else in mind. But that doesn't happen often. CONGRATS!!
It's very unlikely that it won't be approved. In my experience, discussing new staff at the board meeting is just a formality.
or you lied like a rug, you know half the staff because you are related, and you are seen regularly on America's Most Wanted!! don't worry... congratulations!!!!
Then the board meeting is just a formality. I know last year I was offered a job teaching 2nd grade w/o interviewing. When I called the principal back to formally accept the job, the super had overridden him and hired someone else.
You're good! Unless the super or someone higher up than the principal over rules him, the board usually goes along. At school board meetings in my district they basically rattle off a list of all of the people to be hired and they vote to approve the list.
Our board meeting was last night, and I just signed the contract today, so I have to wait a full month before becoming officially offical...ick.
I just went through the same thing... offer was made but it had to go before the board. It is a done deal, just part of the process. I don't think you have to worry. Congrats again on the position
I interviewed for a position a couple of weeks ago, and there's drama with the school board. The P is new (but seems SO great) and she refuses to hire the baseball coach's friend because he's not qualified, so the board has so far refused to approve anybody that she has recommended for the position. School started last week, and I'm still waiting for school board approval, which I may or may not get. I'm sure my situation is pretty rare, but I would try not to burn any bridges until everything is official, just in case. Maybe tell your current employer what's going on if they know that you've been actively looking for a teaching position. ETA: I forgot, CONGRATS!!!!
