I last worked on the 13th of January and have not been called back. I called the district office and was told that teachers have not called in. When school started in September I was getting calls and now nothing. It makes me think I had a complaint on me but instead of telling me. I have been debating whether to drop by and see if other subs been getting assignments. Thanks for any advice
When I was a substitute teacher, we were told that January is one of the slowest months, but the months from March-May are the busiest of the year. I substituted 2 different districts, so when one didn't call, I would get a call from the other district. Having 2 districts with a total of over 100 schools, I never had a problem getting a substitute job. If you are worried about a complaint, unless it is major, it is probably not shared too seriously with the other schools. Get your name on as many school lists as possible, and you should be fine. We can never find enough subs where I teach.
It sure is I found out. I just got my first full day assignment for Thursday. I am a high school and I appreciate them and they are good to me. It was easy to get on with the high school. The grade school wanted two letters of recommendation and I did not get them in on time. I am thinking about asking this one principal of this grade school that said hello to me in passing one day. I just would like to have some experience in grade school. Anyway thanks for the responce. I really enjoy this job.
Hi I am working a 2 day assignment. When I came in I noticed folders for sub's for teachers I have subbed for but for some reason I did not get any alerts from them. I was just lucky to get this 2 day. I tried with another one yesterday but the jobs kept getting cancelled. It was discouraging. I got into this in March last year and got plenty. This am I got a bit down when I seen sub assignment for past Teachers I subbed for & wondered why I didn't see them. I just realized I turned off my alerts after I got this 2 day assignment and so they might have came in after I turned off. I thought I did something wrong & not wanting to call on me again. I am learning [ QUOTE="SpecialPreskoo, post: 2124391, member: 1168"]Give it time. We've recuperated over the holiday break LOL.[/QUOTE]
In the fall I got calls pretty frequently, and since Christmas break not one single person has asked. I have a job scheduled for mid March. (I only sub for a very few people, and no more than a couple of days a month, so maybe not as a rural e of a representation.)
I currently have 11 scheduled jobs and 77 available jobs. Almost all the districts in my area use Frontline Absence Management, which was formerly Aesop. I have phone calls turned off and pick up all jobs with an app on my phone. I currently am on the sub list for 6 districts, but mostly sub for two districts because of pay, etc. Most districts are desperate for subs these days.
