    Just curious...

Does anyone have any information on what it's like to teach in the northern Virginia area (Alexandria, Arlington)? Not a serious thought yet, but considering moving to the DC area. I found this link that says that Virginia schools are currently doing better than DC schools. Any thoughts? Is it relatively easy to get hired? I get emails all the time from the DCPS district trying to recruit me, since I applied and interviewed with them a couple years ago but decided not to go through with it.

    Thanks!

I know at least one county in northern Virginia has openings almost constantly. The counties are very large with many schools so jobs are plentiful.

I would closely examine salaries and cost of living. In many districts, they don't match up all that well unless you can keep your living expenses low and don't have student loans, or don't mind a lengthy commute.

Yes, this is ultimately why I had decided to not move there a few years ago. The living costs are nearly double to where I live now. Pay is better, but not double!
