Does NC need teachers? I was wondering because there are alot posted on the state site. Anyone have the inside scoop? Thanks!

I don't intend to be pessimistic, but I don't think a lot of places 'need' teachers. Wherever I was looking I would send out resumes to principals, formally apply, hit job fairs (if offered), follow up, etc. Just because a job is posted does not mean it is 'needed' because that posting could have 500 applicants.

Elementary is over saturated. Middle and high school have some openings, but not to the extent there were 5 years or so ago.

The majority of the openings are going to be really urban or really rural.

I would say that they do need teachers and I'm only certified in elementary. I'm in MI and I got tons of calls from principals in NC on a Sunday and all week as well. I typically apply online and email the principals personally. I have applied all over the country and NC was the only place I ever got a response like this. My husband and I couldn't believe it.
