I'm trying to gather ideas for non-prize rewards--things that are free and easy! What are your best ideas?

Last year if my 1st gr. followed the classroom responsibilities (rules) then they earned a ticket each day. When they had 10 tickets they would cash them in for the following:

    Privileges Earned with 10 Tickets:
Sit at the teacher’s desk for the
    morning.
Keep a stuffed animal at your desk
    for one day.
Be a Book Captain for one week.
Be a teacher’s helper for one day.
     Extra center time.
     Read to another class.
Sit next to a friend for one day.
Bring a healthy snack from home
and eat it while you are working at
    your desk.
Use the cushions, or bean bag chair
for one week of DEAR time.
Extra computer time during morning work.

**The most popular was sit at teacher's desk for the morning and being teacher's helper.

My kids loved "lunch in the classroom with a friend." That was the most popular one ever.

When I was student teaching I offered a WII pass to any student who did not receive an checks or incomplete homework assignments for a week period. They students were about to pick a partner (out of the group of winners) and play for 10-15 minutes during the silent reading period of the following week......each week we had more and more winners....was a real hit!

I find that stickers are always a hit. I belong to WW and we are given a sticker for doing something healthy. I have never seem adults so happy to get a sticker.

I agree. The kids LOVED eating lunch in the classroom!! I also did "stinky feet" where they could take off their shoes in the classroom. They got to draw on the whiteboard (as long as it didn't interfere with anything I was teaching). I let them have a Beanie Baby buddy at their desk for a week. They got to sit in my rolling chair at their desk for the day.

Eat in the classroom with a friend and the teacher is always a HUGE hit with my kids, no matter the grade level (I used to teach K but have been in 5th for 4 years).

For whole class, I will occasionally have a picnic during lunch. I just email the head lunch lady to let her know my kids will need sack lunches a few days ahead and we sit outside in a quiet area. I'm ALWAYS amazed at how much they love it and how well-behaved they are when we do this. Even better, they are so nice to each other during this time and very inclusive. It is refreshing.
