Do you do any non-classroom related back-to-school shopping? New clothes, shoes, stock up on socks & new underwear perhaps? What do you normally get?

I pretty much shop yr-round, but it especially feels nice to have something new for the new school year! I like to at least get a few new articles of clothing, undergarments, & shoes, maybe some socks. I also get my hair done a day or so before school starts.

I have my $120 Nordstrom GC that has yet to be used! :)

I pretty much always buy a new outfit. This year, I saved my birthday gift card from June to spend, because I know I won't have any money from moving.

I will also usually get my hair done and I usually get my nails done too. I don't get them done during the year very much, but I like to start off looking put together.

I also make sure my kitchen is stocked with things to pack for my lunch and quick dinners and healthy snacks. Again, it doesn't always stay that way but I try to start of the year on a positive note.

I'm having to buy all new clothes and shoes. I have been working for a company for 8 yrs. that allows jeans, t-shirts, I even wear shorts on occassion. I am so out of the loop on what to buy for a more professional look and the clothes I do have are so out of style--and I'm pretty sure they don't fit, b/c these are from the b/f I had kids days. I know I'm going to have to spend a large chunk of change on clothes since I will be either working with pay at a school or the no pay internship.
**I know there was a time I could put together an outfit--what the heck happened???

Not really. I'm kind of an "all year" kind of shopper. I just look anytime I go shopping, so I'm always catching sales here and there. I do, however, have a new dress that I bought on sale before school was even out for the summer, and I will probably wear that for the first day.

I do "prepare" the things I use for school. I make sure all of my shoes are clean & polished, and I've repaired anything like rips, missing buttons, lose threads. I clean my jewelry really well, wash my school bags, and make sure all of my small lunch containers are centrally located.

I became a teacher so i could justify going Back to School clothes shopping through adulthood. J/K

I do buy myself a few item every year, but this year I will have to buy a few more. So far I've lost 24 lbs (as of this morning). :D

    I'm jealous! :D

I already bought two new dresses that should fit even when I lose a bit more, so that should be good for another few months. I NEED new pants though.

Congratulations msmullenjr - I got spoiled shopping for a while because I lost 85 pounds over 2 years. My husband didn't say a word on all the money I was spending! I went from a size 22 to a size 12 but now I'm stuck! I would like to lose another 20 or 30 but I don't have the motivation to sacrifice. I am happy where I am but maybe I will in the future. I walked a ton last year training for the 3 day breast cancer walk - up to 30 miles a week and I still wasn't losing weight. Not sure I am up to starving. We'll see.

I like to buy a couple of new outfits but not sure I will be able to afford it. I will get my hair cut.

I shop a lot, but I always get a couple pairs of new comfortable/nice school shoes and a new outfit or 2. I have bought several shirts for school recently so I will probably get a couple pairs of pants this year.

My birthday is 8/29 so I usually get gift cards for my birthday to use on shoes/clothes for school.

Congrats on all the weight loss!

Scmom--sometimes our bodies settle at a happy weight that we might not consider ideal.

I don't have much suitable for work so I will hit Ann Taylor and the Ralph Lauren outlet when I get my fall financial aid money at the end of August. When I get my paychecks, I will be hitting VS and Lord & Taylor. :D

I stopped in at Kohl's today and found a pair of black Lee jeans that fit perfectly. They don't have any contrast stitching, so you can't even tell they're jeans unless you look carefully at the pockets, and I always wear tops that cover. I was hoping for some dressier pants, but the misses' are too long for me, and the petites are just a bit too short - bummer!

I ordered 9 dresses for the fall before school was even out, so my main clothing purchases are taken care of, even the traditional plaid dress for the first day of school (I have had a new plaid dress for the first day of school ever since I was in kindergarten). I need some shoes and other odds and ends, but nothing major.

Last week, I had a haircut and color. Just yesterday, I was in town and found/bought 6 shirts. Living in a rural area, the closest shopping is 30 min. away (Walmart and Fashio Bug. I'm particular on shirts...no collars and 3/4 length sleeves. Not always easy to find. I've tried online shopping but some companies deliver by UPS and UPS delivers to the post office
not directly to the house. The post office has no home delivery at all so my packages just get sent back!!!

Ms I, did you see the refill bags they have now for the soaps? They are super cheap compared to the bottles, and then we found some on clearance that were just dirt cheap, like $5 for a refill bag that will refill your bottle 4 times or something like that... wow!

mrsnikki, yes I noticed. One their site, they also have 7 bottles for $20. I assume they have the same deals in their stores too.

silverspoon65, yes I noticed the last time I was at the store. There only seem to be 1 or 2 scents of the big refills, but you get a lot more for your money.

I am going shopping for one new outfit and gonna get my hair done. :)

My bday is Sept 1 (two days after school starts) so I am looking forward to maybe birthday shopping Labor day weekend. :) I have lost a few more inches over the summer ( about 10 pounds ) and some of my "basics" are getting way to roomy for comfort.

Same here, a few new things, get my hair done (colored!) a week or so before. I shop all year though, too. I am tired of my summer clothes already and excitedly bought some fall clothes online last night. :)

I have spent way too much money this paycheck on clothes! I'm doing an internship with my principal that lasts the whole year, so I want to look a little nicer. I will have extra money when I get paid for summer school (the end of August), so I took some money from savings and am planning to replace it when I get paid.

I also got the 7 liquid hand soaps for $20 from Bath & BodyWorks.

My BF got me a nice necklace & matching earrings.

I'm buying several things this year because I went from teaching kindergarten to high school. I needed new shoes, clothes, everything.

I treat myself to a new Nine West purse (bought at Ross for about $20) for each major life change, so I bought one of those for the job change.

I also bought new sticky notes with my school's mascot - Gators - on them.

I plan to get a mani/pedi right before school starts. I'll color my own hair because I don't like how it turns out at the hair salon. (Kinda sad that my $20 hair color from Target looks better than the salon's $80 stuff!)
I will also buy some new pants and a few tops with some cardigan-type sweaters and a nice blouse or two. I need a new fall jacket as well.
I need shoes too! Maybe two new pairs.
It's nice to go back with a few new items.
BTW...I've only managed to lose 5 lbs since I started walking and eating healthier in early July but I'm not giving up. My goal is to continue with 5 lbs a month over the next year. If I can lose and keep off the weight this time, I'll be happy but I know it has to be gradual or else, for me, it all comes back, and more!

I got a certificate for a pedicure from a student this year (and the year before when I had their other son), so I need to make an appointment for it! I had never had one before last summer.
