My son will begin college in the fall. He's a hard worker, will be playing a sport, and an absolute bear if he doesn't sleep! My husband and I are looking to get him a good pair of noise canceling headphones that he can use to block out noise while studying or a snoring roommate at night. Any suggestions for a high quality pair that would be comfortable enough to sleep wearing if needed?

I would probably look into earplugs. I could imagine sleeping with headphones on.

i know bose has amazing ones. pretty high price tag though, i think around $100. if you go to a bose store you can try them out. if i'm not mistaken, at least in nj, teachers can get a discount on bose. also check QVC, they may have them on installment pays.

Why not? I fall asleep with headphones all the time. Sometimes jazz. Often punk. Streaming instrumental surf music one night wasn't such a good idea.

One night I dreamed I was playing in the band that did the song I was listening to. That was REALLY cool.

The only thing is that the mp3 player have some sort of timer or go off when the playlist is done. Falling asleep to John Coltrane is nice, waking up to it at 1 AM isn't.

Most of the time I find the cords or bands very uncomfortable to sleep in. That's just me though.

Take a look at Peltor noise reducing headphones.
