I was a little shocked to find out I do not have an aide to help me in my class. I thought that was a norm. How do you do it all by yourself?

I do not have an aid and haven't in the 6 years I've taught kinder. You just have to really take the first few weeks to practice routines, rules and procedures over and over and over!!! Once the kids get them down and learn the expectations, they are very indepedent! You will do just fine!

I'm not going to have a para either, but luckily the school will be hiring helpers for the first few days of school. That's what we are going to be focusing on first as well, routines routines, routines!!!

    I don't have one either.
I'm just going to make sure that all procedures are taught, practiced, and followed. This should make sure that things run smoothly.
We have 26 kinders in our district and not one has an aide.

Do you have any parents that might volunteer in your room?

WooHoo! I am so excited! I found out today I am going to have an aide for 45 minutes!

It is a high school senior who is going to be a teacher's aide. I have been encouraging high school kids to consider it for several years.

I can't wait to make some plans for how to use her!

You know that is a good idea, if the HS student wants it. 45 minutes is a long time in kindergarten minutes!
