YAY, I got a job! I'll be a supply kindergarten teacher at a school that I interviewed at yesterday for a paraprofessional position. I start on August 29th, which is two weeks after the school year starts. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do to plan? Kindergarten is my DREAM job, I am so excited! Thanks!!

That is great! What is a supply teacher? Is that like a building sub? K is lots of fun! I would go to your state's dept. ed. website and look up the frameworks. Congrats!

A supply teacher is like a long-term sub, like when a teacher takes maternity leave. I guess I should have clarified. I will go check that out!

Cool! That is a great way to get into a full-time assignment.

You might also check out the Mailbox magazine for teachers. They are leveled for different grades. Great classroom management ideas and activities. I used it a lot my first few years of teaching, and actually found it useful even after I had taught for quite awhile. They are quite creative and teachers often submit classroom-tested ideas. They are online, too. :)

Congratulations! Check out Lakeshore Learning. Their "for teachers" section has a lot of free lesson downloads by grade. They are often theme or season based and they have a pretty good archive. Plus Lakeshore has great teacher supplies as well! I still go in there and I'm currently unemployed!

Thank you everyone! I knew I could count on you guys to be excited... my family keeps saying they're excited, but they have subtly voiced that they're disappointed because it's not a full-time position. Whatever... I'm thrilled, and that's all that matters!

Aww, TeachGA, please do not let that get you down whatsoever! You are going to do an amazing job, and I cannot TELL you how many times I have heard of supply jobs leading to full-time positions. You get a great opportunity to get some classroom experience and show a school just how fabulous you are. :) Good on you!
