I am taking my NJ Praxis 5001 test soon. Can someone please tell me what are good study guides. I haven't been in school in over 10 yrs (going alternate route for teaching). I really need to pass thank you
I'm in the same boat. I am stressed out over the exam. From what I'm told the literacy parts are standard. The math I find myself using quizlet. There are many terms and formulas that are useful. Science I know I will have to retake. Good luck
Thank you. I am so stressed myself. I have already taken it once and didn't pass. I really need to pass this time around. I have one study guide but wanted to see if there is something better then the one I have. I am going to try quizlet... Good luck to you too
I am really struggling with the Science and Social Studies... I just did my 1st retake of both and got a raw score of 30 on both. I am pretty sure I am going to have to retake both, again. I purchased the study guide from the ETS/PRAXIS website, and they were completely irrelevant to the tests. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi... I had to retake both again, but finally passed... I got a raw score of 35 on science and 38 on social studies! Good luck to you!
Hello, I have taken and passed the LA. I still have to take the Math, Science, and SS I'm thinking maybe we can start a study group if anyone is located in central jersey. Just send me a message. I have a few resources to study from: 2 books and a set of flash cards. As far as passing score requirements a friend gave me this website which is equivalent to NJ http://www.doe.virginia.gov/administrators/superintendents_memos/2014/145-14.shtml
Hi I took all the test and passed them all except for social studies. I need 155 I got a 154..l ridiculous I know. Anyone know of anyone who fought this and was given the extra point. please let me know this is the last test that I need. -Also I used high school regents books to help with the content. I bought all the practice tests from the website and printed out the whole exam since everytime you buy it its the same exam.
Score verification almost never results in a passing score. In the last decade I know of one case that resulted in a score change, and the test taker was able to demonstrate that his constructed responses had been mixed up with someone else's. Where the test has only multiple choice questions, all that happens is that the electronic equivalent of running a Scantron form through the machine again. Sorry. Do you have official results yet that show the domains (major test areas) in which you came up short?
Hugs to you. How are you generally as a taker of multiple choice tests? How do you feel about history?
I'm hoping to take the Praxis elementary 5001 in August. How soon should I register? I taught for 17 years in Canada, but they won't recognize that, and so after all these years, I'm having to write exams. Any advice on which study guides are useful. I'm using quizlet, but have already found errors on it...
The Praxis page on test centers and dates indicates that testing windows for 5001 and its subtests run 11 to 12 days at a time; the next window is July 13-25 and the one after that is Aug. 10-22. I would expect 5001 (that is, all four subtests in one go) to be harder to book than the individual subtests, because the slot is longer; my advice would be to register now.
Hello, I've found Mometrix flash cards to be helpful. They contain a lot of information. You can also check EBay and Amazon for praxis books, but read the reviews.
Hi there, So I am new to the forum. On November 1st, I took the Praxis (5001) and received scores of; Language Arts - 43 Social Studies - 31 Math - 17 Science - 17 What does these scores mean? Did I pass / fail? In NJ for Language Arts & Math, the passing score is 157 For Social Studies, the passing score if 155 For Science, the passing score is 159 So I am completely lost, I have no idea if I passed or failed... HELP and THX
I'm not 100% sure bit it looks like you might have passed language and ss.. The other two you might need to retake. Can I ask what your using to study. I am always falling short on the social studies one.
Hi there, Honestly, I really did not study that much, I guess that's why I failed Math and Science. But I would recommend ETS' practice test on their website and the Multiple Book test from Barnes & Nobles.
Hello, Educators! I have passed 3/4 sections on the Elementary Praxis exam. I have yet to pass the English/LA section. If would be willing to give me some suggestions/ strategies to pass this section of the exam that would be wonderful. I failed it by 2 points which sucks! Thanks in advance!
For the LA section in particular i only used the paid practice test and took a few notes from that. For the other three sections I used the official study guide and the paid practice tests. LA was def the subject I studied for the least. Its a bit of a weird exam in my opinion. I did about the same raw score wise on both sections although the "reading, speaking, and listening" part i think i did worse on.
