I am currently teaching middle school science in California and as many may know that California is among the 19 states who have adopted the NGSS standards. However, I am moving to Texas over the summer and I see that Texas has instead created their own standards. My question is to those whose state has not adopted the standards do you feel that you would prefer NGSS or not. Do you feel that those states who do not adopt it are doing a disservice to the students? Do you feel that the NGSS would provide greater scientific understanding? Just wanted to get opinions on this matter since less than half the United States is on board with NGSS standards.

It’s funny because I just moved back to Illinois from Texas and am HATE HATE HATING NGSS!!!! I think these standards are a HORRIBLE diservice to students! My TX kids could run circles around these kids who have had NGSS because in Texas they actually learn REAL SCIENCE!
