Well, all, Jeannie is going to school next year. She'll be a 6th grader at the christian school where she takes specials. She's got a best guy friend there, and the teachers like her quiet personality. I think she'll have a good year. As for me..I worry about messing up on their rules and regulations, lol. It's been too long since I've been tied down to a school's expectations. ;)

That must have been a hard decision for you, Becky.

I'm sure she'll fit right in and do incredibly well. You've put your whole heart into homeschooling her for all these years. She'll do great!!

I can't quite believe that she's going into grade 6 already! I'm sure she'll do well; you've worked very hard at ensuring she was getting just what she needed while you homeschooled.

The big question is...what are you going to do with your time?

Alice..you just don't know how hard it was.
She had become really obstinate toward math. She knew the work, just didn't like the time needed to sit there and do it. Long story short, I told her if the behavior didn't change, she was being enrolled for next year. Nothing I tried worked, so here we are.

My plan was to hs until she finished 8th grade, so honestly- I'm not happy with this change. At the same time, her attitude in hsing was creating this negative aspect in our relationship.

    She is, and she's not.
She already misses her homeschool classes. She's NOT anxious to be up at 6 each day, lol.

She is anxious to be part of the school. She'll get to see her guy friend each day now, lol. There are teachers there she really likes, so that's also a plus.

Mrs. C- that is a good question!
I'm giving up everything next year- my GS troop, hsing, and my position at church. I was director of the children's ministries again this year. I can only assume God has something in store for me, since I'm so cool about letting it all go. Well..it will be a little while till I'm 100% over hsing, I guess.

Oh, they do like her already. There was one teacher that seemed to have an attitude with hsers coming in for specials, but all the others have been very welcoming. Lol- she even got chewed out with the other kids one day in gym, for trying to cut short her laps!!

I'm sure you've given her a great start. I always said I would have no success at all teaching my own children because our personalities would be clashing constantly. Math would be the worst for us too. Good luck to her (and you)!

Best wishes to both of you with this new chapter. I'm glad you have a place that she already knows and is familiar with, that will certainly help with the transition. And I hope whatever you transition into will be great.
