My city has a program to pick up your old refrigerator and give you $30.

Hah. We were making jokes about this last week when my mom plunked down over $4000 on new appliances.

Actually, she got a good deal regardless: Best Buy had an additional 30% off when you bought 3 or more pieces.

While I didn't want to start making payments again on our pick-up truck, I do need a new fridge and dishwasher. Currently only the bottom tier of the dishwasher is working, making for a lot of loads. I'm in!

A new motorhome.... that's what I have in mind........

    http://www.giantrvonline.com/Monaco/Signature.htm

Now if congress will take my current motorhome off my hands... give me $200,000 towards the purchase on the new Monaco.... I will assume the debt on the remaining $400,000, assuming congress will give me an interest free loan...AND they (the congress) will forgive the loan if I have problems making payments .:D:D:D:p:p:p

I just might learn to love the stimulus package..... After all it is free money isn't it???:whistle:

I bought a new stove 2 weeks ago. This always happens.

I also bought a house in November- 6 weeks before the $8000 rebate began.

My mom is laughing at me. I don't find it very funny though!!

Hm. While I've bought a new washer, dryer, fridge, and dish washer in the past year, I'll consider replacing my oven which is original to the house.

Now, we may get to get in on this offer. Our refrigerator is over 20 years old & it would be nice to have a new one. We wouldn't mind a new washer & dryer either. :)

Although a rebate of any kind is nice, I'm not sure how much $50 - $200 us going to stimulate the home appliance business. I guess if I needed a new one anyway I'd be sure to get one that qualified for the rebate, but if I didn't need to upgrade my appliances I don't think getting that amount of money back would have me go out and buy something I didn't really need to replace yet.

Perhaps the purpose of this program is twofold: stimulating the economy and getting more efficient appliances used.

Our electric company will pay customers $50 for their old fridge and they come haul it away, too!

Our power company gives money for changing to energy efficient appliances. Got $50 when I bought new fridge and this year $50 when our water heater broke and had to buy a new one. They have been doing it for year, love it!!

We are building and don't have appliances. I think I'll go drive around and find old ones just so I can trade them in. JK.
