    Hi everyone,
I'm a first year teacher from Australia and I've noticed a lot of teachers talking about "Common Core" during my online browsing.
I gather this is a new curriculum initiative but can anyone give me more details?
I'm interested to know what the latest developments are in other countries.

    Cheers,
    Nikki.

You can read through information here. Many states replaced their state standards with the CommonCore (now called Career and College Readiness Standards in my state).

It's not a curriculum, but a stab at national standards for Math and Reading versus individual state standards.

Some of the spirit behind it is okay, but naturally it's getting implemented all wrong. ('Merica!)
