Hi I have a question... I am going to be a new teacher in Sept and I was wondering what essential supplies/materials/etc is needed for a beginning teacher? I know that most schools have materials avail. but are there certain things that are required to buy? Thanks!

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. I've been spending the summer playing "accountant" and only buying from the best deals (Target, Walmart, Office Depot, drug stores, Big Lots)

So my first piece of advice is watch the sales.

I like colored pencils, handheld pencil sharpeners, think about pens (blue, black, red) gluesticks, scissors

but I only buy a class set (approx 34).

    that's a start

you should think about your curriculum and what you could request from parents vs. what you'd need to provide yourself
