Hahaha, nothing like teaching the first 10 minutes of the class twice so that late kids don't miss out!
Wow. That's freakishly accurate. I can name those kids in several my class. Particularly chronically late kid because it's a pair of twins but I have them in separate classes so it feels like I'm yelling at the same kid twice a day, everyday.
I didn't have a "kid in the back who never says anything" until today. Called on him. He just stared at me. Awkward.
I have a kid that falls asleep EVERY SINGLE DAY. I have to look at him every minute to make sure that he's awake. A few days ago, he fell asleep during a test.
I've only had a student fall asleep on me once. She sits in the very back row and she fell asleep sitting up, so the back of her head was against the wall. I grabbed the remote for the projector so I could advance the slides, and kept on talking. I walked over to her desk, quietly moved her stuff off it, and sat on her desk long-ways so my legs were in the aisle. I just kept on lecturing until she woke up. Her facial expression was PRICELESS.
I have one who falls asleep a couple of afternoons a week. If our office administrator has a minute, she calls into the classroom, "Hello, MrsC? I'm just checking to be sure that C is awake." We all have a good chuckle and carry on.
I had a boy fall asleep during our reading lesson. He started snoring! We all got quiet, and just listened for a while, giggling. When it got too loud, I gently woke him up. He was so surprised! (drool was on the desk-he was OUT!)
