Hello, I am a certified teacher and just recently applied for a position at a new charter school for a Library Tech specialist. I am recently enrolled in a media specialist program, and just thought I would apply fo rhte job, even though I am not complete with that creditential. But they called me back, and I had a interview and they want to move foward with the hiring process. As a beginning teacher/media librarian, do you think I am in over my head? I would have to start out the library, etc...etc.. I am glad they called me back, but now I am a little nervous, cause I know that it is not easybut i think it is something that i can do. What do you think?
I think that as a new teacher, you will be perfect. You are right out of school, with all sorts of great NEW ideas. My assumption is that you also have all the excitement and enthusiasm that comes with being a new teacher!
thanks for the boost of confidence. I have actually been teachin for 5 years, but just recently started toward the library media masters program. So I dont know if this is something I will be able to do without being fully completed with the specialist program. But thanks for your positive reply.
I think that districts are looking for librarians with teaching experience. That is how I got my new job. I think you can definitely get started and your program will teach you about things that you don't need to know right away. Your professors should be a great place to take questions you have about your job, too.
