So today I heard that new Drake song Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem) which has parts of the song from Annie sung be the people (or those who should like it) in the movie. Than when I heard Drake's part, I was like "I don't remember this song."

Here is the song link on YouTube:

I feel like I should point out that the aforementioned is a Jay-Z song. And it was released in 1998.

I spent almost 5 minutes scratching my head. I even googled to see if Drake covered it. Drake was only like 10 when the song came out, so I knew he wasn't on the original record.

This reminds me of the time my nephew, when in high school back in 2004, came home asking his mom and me if we had heard of this awesome new band, and that for some reason he had found their album in the bargain bin. He was dying to play it for us.

    It was the Beastie Boys.

Kc that's funny... I know when that Jessica simpson song that started with Jack & Diane was out. I had Jack & Diane & I had my neighbor in the car (a teen at the time) I put on Jack & Diane she looked at me like what is this?!?

haha another one of those stories:
when I was in middle school, my mind was blown when my dad put on "i'll be missing you" and the words started and it wasn't puff daddy but some "random" guy.

"DAD WHY ARE YOU RUINING MY FAVORITE SONG???"

You know the sad thing my mom always told me (when I was a teen), "Just wait until your favorite songs are the background for new songs!" Geesh how come moms are always right?!? *that's for the moms*

I give my kids bonus questions and sometimes I do musical BQs. My 6th grade class had been singing "I Believe I Can Fly" over and over in class, I even taught them some lyrics and we practiced together. So one day as a BQ I asked who sang it. NO ONE knew. I got answers like "The Bravery", "Green Day", and "Coldplay" When I told them the song was from the 90s one kid says "MADONNA!"

    haha!

I remember unhappily confusing my BFs little sister when I told her that a few of the Gwen Stefani songs were actually using remakes of old musicals, like Fiddler on the Roof and Sound of Music.
