Negotiating?

I just got official word about my salary for the new salary at a new position I accepted in early June. It's $3,000 less than what the principal had said when I accepted the job, although she did say it would be finalized when the budget was going to be approved.

Can I negotiate? How would I even do that? I really like the position but I'm a bit shocked at how much lower it actually is.

 

If there is a contract with a set salary scale then I don't think you can negotiate.

 

I would check with HR about the salary. Most schools have some type of pay scale and you could check about how your salary was determined- for the sake of knowing

I called the school and the lower salary was an error. The salary is what I was told when I was offered the position, so all is good again!

 

Good! Three thousand less would be a big disappointment.
